One of the reasons I harbor an unseemly amount of excitement for the new bionic franchise is NBC, subsequent to the pilot, hired writer-producer Jason Smilovic to work on it. Smilovic did an incredible job running two of my favorite series of the last few years – “Karen Sisco” and “Kidnapped.”
I’ve just been alerted by about 350 people that YouTube is teeming with clips of NBC’s new “Bionic Woman” pilot.
They’re all very key moments from the Jaime Sommers story and give us a pretty clear idea of how a 21st century 42-million-dollar woman works.

I am – Hercules!!
No sooner do we hear that NBC is taking its new “Bionic Woman” to series than we get this review of the pilot from first-time contributor “Kngiht42.”
It’s a long one, so here’s a few spoilertastic highlights:
* Katie Sackhoff (Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on “Galactica”) plays a (recurring?) villain named Sarah.
* Apparently evil Sarah was an early bionic woman whose inferior nanotech implants drove her nuts.
* Crazy Sarah helps create the new bionic woman when she drives a semi into hot bartender Jamie Sommers and her beau, an MD working in a top secret experimental bionics lab.

It looks like the success of "Heroes" has emboldened NBC to stick with the strange. (Bet they're glad they didn't give up after "Surface" tanked!)
The network doesn’t announce its fall slate till Monday, but Mike Ausiello at TV Guide already has some of its key components:
* “The Bionic Woman,” a scifi drama about a cyborg babe, from writer-producer David Eick (“Battlestar Galactica”) and writer Laeta Kalogridis (“Alexender,” “Battle Angel”).
* “Journeyman,” a scifi drama about a dude who keeps traveling back through time to fix stuff, from writer Kevin Falls (“The West Wing,” “North Shore”).

Another American job snatched away by a foreigner.
The BBC reports Tuesday that 22-year-old Britisher Michelle Ryan, who did a five-year stint as Zoe Slater on Britain’s “EastEnders,” will play the comely cyborg and tennis pro Jaime Summers in NBC's proposed re-imagining of "The Bionic Woman."
She's plenty hot! Find out what she looks like here and here.

Some interesting pilot news from NBC:
* “Chuck,” "The OC" mastermind Josh Schwartz’s new comedy-adventure pilot about twentysomething spies, has been greenlit for production.
* The “Bionic Woman” pilot, overseen by David Eick ("Battlestar Galactica") and Laeta Kalogridis ("The Dive"), has been OK’d for production if the network can find the right girl.
* “Fort Pit,” the cop pilot from Peter Tolan & Denis Leary (“The Job,” “Rescue Me”), is also going before cameras. It’s about a troubled NYPD precinct.

It’s only a script commitment so far. Laeta Kalogridis (“Birds of Prey,” “Alexander,” “Pathfinder,” “Battle Angel”) is scripting. David Eick (“Battlestar Galactica”) is producing.
Nanobots will be involved this time around.
(A semi-related digression for faithful readers: There’s a lot of buzz about “Galactica” moving from SciFi to NBC primetime real soon. Which would be strange, but not unprecedented. An announcement may come as early as Tuesday. Stay tuned.)
