Merrick here...
Just like the headline says. The pic comes to us via The San Diego Comic Con magazine which is available online in .pdf form
For your instant gratification (or...not), here's a considerably smaller version of the image from the document:

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Lionsgate has bumped up Frank Miller's adaptation of Will Eisner's THE SPIRIT out of 2009. It's now hitting Christmas Day '08. My guess is to get as much distance between it and WATCHMAN as possible, both are going to be hard edged comic book movies aimed at older geeks (meaning not children).
I'm very curious about this one. Hope it's good.

Hey folks, Harry here... I was completely flummoxed by the anti-Frank Miller tone of Quint's talkback on his unveiling of the poster for Frank Miller's THE SPIRIT. I've grown up with THE SPIRIT - but then my parents ran the first Comic Book shop in Austin - and my house has always had more golden age comics than I've ever seen in any comic shop in the country... Will Eisner was revered in my home - Maybe I'm on crack - but I fucking love FRANK MILLER. He's a giant. And here you have Frank Miller's THE SPIRIT. Not Will Eisner's.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I am very curious about this movie. I want it to be good. I loved SIN CITY and would love to see Frank Miller continue on with that trend and make a kick-ass flick.
I like the poster campaign so far. We'll see what the final result will be, but to hold you over I have for you gentle and kind readers the first look at the official teaser poster for THE SPIRIT. It will debut at the NYCC, I'm told, but you get it a day early. Click it for the higher res version! Enjoy!

Some (unsanctioned) character shots from Frank Miller's forthcoming adaptation of THE SPIRIT appeared briefly online not too long ago, then disappeared rather quickly.
Some not-particularly-revelatory "official" shots appeared shortly thereafter...but they didn't really give us a sense of, well, much at all.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Last week Dark Horizons ran a bunch of unauthorized raw behind the scenes pics from Frank Miller's Will Eisner's THE SPIRIT. Lotsa greenscreen there... and they got pulled pretty quickly. I'm guessing Lionsgate has had these authorized ones rushed out to give everybody a more solid idea of what the film will look like. It's not much, but I gotta say that's an absolutely gorgeous shot of Scarlett Johansson's purty face.
Anyway, here they be! Enjoy!

Hey folks, Harry here... thanks for all the well wishes - but frankly doing AICN is what has gotten me through the hardest of times - I love it. I love sharing fun stuff with all of you. Not too long ago I got sent THE SPIRIT widget on FACEBOOK - so I've decided to share it with all of you. It's counting down and telling us that THE SPIRIT IS ON THE WAY... and if that means trailer... I'm so fucking ready. Here ya go...

Quint here again... That didn't last long. Pics removed at request of Lionsgate, both here and at Dark Horizons. I'm sure glad none of our readers would save these pics...
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The pimp daddy Garth Franklin at Dark Horizons got a great bunch of images from the shooting of THE SPIRIT, directed by Frank Miller from his adaptation of Will Eisner's character. Get 'em while you can!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I haven’t been to ShoWest in a lot of years now, but part of the fun of it was seeing all the poster art that got premiered there and all the theater standees that they’re going to be sending out soon.
Looks like the guys over at IESB are already there and snapping photos of everything. They got some good stuff that I hadn’t seen before, like this one for Frank Miller’s THE SPIRIT...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Anybody that has seen any of Frank Miller’s work knows he enjoys the female form and damnit if he’s not going whole-hog into THE SPIRIT with some of the most attractive women in show business.
He already has Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes. Now he’s signed on SIN CITY alum Jaime King and Paz Vega. Paz will be playing Plaster of Paris, a knife wielding French nightclub dancer and Jaime is Lorelei, a phantom siren.
