“Ugly Betty,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Family Guy” made the Emmy finalists but not “Battlestar Galactica” or “South Park.” Huh!
(No love for “My Name Is Earl,” “The Shield” or “Californication” either.)
From 20 shows, 10 will earn proper nominations.

“Lost” lost two hours of its fourth season thanks to the writers’ strike, but will get those two hours back over the show’s 5th and 6th seasons, according to producers.
The original plan was to have “Lost’s” 4th, 5th and 6th seasons run 16 hours each. The plan now:
Season Four: 14 hours.
Season Five: 17 hours.
Season Six: 17 hours.
Season six will continue to be the series’ last.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I’m a LOST fan. I stuck with it over the water-treading second season and I’ve been rewarded with a slow-starting, but excellent ending third season and a, so far, amazing fourth season.
An offer to interview Ben Linus himself, Mr. Michael Emerson, came to me early last week and I jumped at the chance. Of the cast, I’d say the most consistently growing and interesting character is Ben Linus and that’s due in large part to what Emerson brings to the character.

“If she doesn’t get off this island in three weeks, she will die!!”
“I’m going to do what’s best for me – and my baby!!”
“What exactly is going on here??”
I am – Hercules!!

Entertainment Weekly has an interview with “Lost” star Matthew Fox, and he seems determined to defy an appraisal offered by Seth Rogen’s character in “Knocked Up.”
Invisotext on!!
* Fox says at least one “decoy ending” was shot for season four.
* Fox was told who’s in the casket.

I thought for certain everyone had gandered upon the season-four “Lost” promo at this point, but readers keep discovering it. If you’ve not seen it, TVWeek.com has its copy here.
If you can't make it play, ABC begins airing on Jan. 31 the eight new episodes of "Lost" scripted before the writers' strike.

ABC will begin airing new fourth-season episodes of “Lost” Jan. 31.
Many speculated fresh “Lost” might remain lost until next fall in the event of a long strike. ABC's move to schedule "Lost" at midseason defies the preferences of showrunners Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, who did not think the last episode of “Lost” scripted before the writers’ strike made for the best of season finales.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here to introduce our own Albert Lanier who cornered Daniel Dae Kim in Hawaii and grilled him on LOST-ish stuff. Well, maybe not "grilled" but lightly sauteed. I still am a fan of the show despite the floundering it has been doing since the end of the first season... but how about that Season 3 finale? Loved it!
Enjoy the chat!

A series of newly-shot three-minute “Lost” minisodes starring the series regulars will launch on abc.com starting Monday, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Thanks to the writers strike, these may be the last “Lost” fans will get to see for a while. ABC chief Stephen MacPherson has not yet decided when to air the eight episodes completed before the strike. “Lost” producers have said they would prefer ABC hold the finished episodes at least until the strike ends.

Fisher Stevens, perhaps best known as the wacky Indian scientist in the “Short Circuit” robot comedies, has been cast as Minkowski on “Lost.”
Minkowski was the fellow who in the third-season finale told Jack (via phone) of his impending rescue.
Read all of the Hollywood Reporter’s story on the matter here.
The fourth season of "Lost" begins on ABC in February.
