Spike Jonze And Mr. Beaks Howl About WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!!!

It's Friday evening. I'm slumped over a speakerphone in my living room, clad in a ratty t-shirt and pajama bottoms, drugged out of my mind, and sucking on a Halls. The phone rings. It's Spike Jonze. Sometime over the next few months, he may very well contract Swine Flu. This will suck, but at least he won't be able to blame it on me.

Quint joins in on the wild rumpus of Spike Jonze's WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The advertising surrounding Spike Jonze’s WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE have really worked for me, setting up a distinct universe that is at once fresh and popping while nestling itself comfortably in my familiarity zone, thanks to the strict adherence to Maurice Sendak’s design of the Wild Things.

Harry calls WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE the best film he's seen this year!

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE is the very best film I’ve seen this year. Not by a hair, not by a nose, but by a mile. More than that, it could very well be the best film ever created about what it is like to be a 9 year old.

Do you remember?

9 years old.

How did you play? How did you move? Do you remember the angles that you saw the world from? Did you ever start something that felt like the most fun thing in the world, until it wound up in tears. Your tears?

Do you remember how WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE spoke to you as a 9 year old?

Vern's WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE review 'monsterpiece'!!!!

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

First of all, this one is VERY different from the other WILD THINGS movies, and with virtually no nudity. But easily one of the best of the series. Second, I don't usually go around reviewing movies made for kids, and I got a reputation to uphold and what not. But this is a movie of ferocious artistic purity. Whether you like it or not you'd have to be a numbnuts not to recognize it as a unique achievement.

Mark Romanek posts a glimpse of Spike doing effects direction on WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!!!!

Hey folks, Harry here with a micro glimpse of just how intense Spike is with his attention to detail. One of the things I really like is that he's doing this against a projected image - instead of a small computer screen. I think sometimes detail can be overlooked on monitors - whereas when you see the image being projected against a screen - you can begin to see how it'll look later on film - and make the right adjustments. Like I said, the link below doesn't offer much - but it shows us 1) Mark Romanek is a geek!

Slash has a peek at the Wild Things of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Spike Jonze's WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE is easily among the top films of 2009 that I'm dying to put in front of my eyeballs. That it scares some folks on an emotional level and isn't the SAFE and COMMERCIAL film one would expect from a studio -- well, that absolutely thrills me. When Mori saw the test screening, ages ago... back when there were basically zero digital effects and they were still trying to grapple with how they were even going to solve the effects challenge... he loved the film. That that was well over a year ago... kills me.

Moriarty Sits Down With Spike Jonze For Huge Unfettered WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Interview + Exclusive Debut Photos!!

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.

So... have you heard that Spike Jonze is making a film out of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE?

If you forgot, you’re not to blame. The film was originally announced a few years ago, and then set for an October ’08 release, and then... well... that didn’t happen. And it didn’t happen for a variety of reasons, which all basically boil down to “it wasn’t ready.”

It's Not a Question of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, But When...

Beaks here...

Looking forward to Spike Jonze's filmed adaptation of Maurice Sendak's WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE? Worried about the reports of "disastrous" test screenings and rumors of massive reshoots? Curious as to how a film once scheduled for release on October 3, 2008 might still be a full year away from finished?

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Has A New Release Date! But... What Will We See?

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

That’s the question right now.

We have a very impassioned letter that showed up in the Geek Headquarters mailbox recently that seems like the perfect companion piece for the announcement (which I'd link you to, except Variety.com is a shitshow that rarely works right) that Warner will release the film in October of 2009.

Spike Jonze wants to tell you exactly what that 'WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE' clip was!

Hey folks, Harry here with the end of intrigue regarding that clip that has been going around online. Here is what the man, THE MAN... SPIKE JONZE has to say about it all...

Where Is That Clip From WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE?!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

So it looks like Warner Bros. has spent most of the weekend chasing a leaked clip from WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE around the internet.

It started its viral life over at Buzznet, and since then it’s been popping up all over the place. And along with the clip, there’s been a lot of speculation about what it is and where it fits into the movie. People are wondering if it’s test footage or an actual clip or what.

Almost A Half Dozen Incredibly Premature looks at WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE - which was directed by Spike Jonze!

Hey folks, Harry here... Today - Moriarty attempted to get into this screening... we'll see if he was able to pull it off - however, whether he did or not - these two spies did. We've known about this screening for a while now - and this isn't a case of a nearly finished film that's sitting in a can awaiting release next Holiday season because of this season being overcrowded. No, this is a film at its most exposed, raw and vulnerable state. The way Spike shot this film was with puppeted suits with... TO BE CG'd heads.

A hot redhead (no, not Knowles) will voice one of Spike Jonze's WILD THINGS!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I've always liked Lauren Ambrose. I don't know where that started... probably CAN'T HARDLY WAIT. At any rate, she's turned in some really good work lately, especially in an indie flick called STARTING OUT IN THE EVENING, opposite Frank Langella.

MTV Knows WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

Okay... I know I’ve been fairly upbeat about most of the films I’ve posted stories about today. Sue me... I’m optimistic until I have a reason not to be. But in the case of the upcoming Spike Jonze film version of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, I am absolutely out-of-my-mind rabid to see the movie, and I would kill Harry and wear his skin like a Tauntaun if I thought it would get me one day closer to seeing the movie right now.

Over at the MTV Movies Blog, where they’ve been doing good work lately, they managed to score a high-res version of the image that was unveiled at the Licensing Show in New York, the first official image anywhere for the film.

The WILD THINGS get voices from a Gonzo doctor, a Ghost Dog, a Pirate, a Corpse and more!!

Spike Jonze's WHERE THE WILD THINGS is getting ready to shoot!

Warner Bros is willing to venture WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE with Jonze!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with an interesting bit about the adaptation of childhood classic WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE being helmed by Spike Jonze. Universal had the project, but I guess they decided CURIOUS GEORGE was as big a kiddie movie as they ne | »
