Greetings. I thought I'd take a break from my temporary AICN sabbatical ("Who are you supposed to be?" asks most of the readership) to drop in a review. I've been sitting on a half-finished FROST/NIXON review for about a month -- for reasons I'll go into when I finally submit my review -- but as AICN's Australian correspondent, it's fitting that I should return to review the largeness that is... AUSTRALIA.

Merrick here...
Mallrat sent in this look at Baz Luhrmann's AUSTRALIA, to follow-up on/in response to a review we posted earlier today (HERE). You can find trailer for the film, in various forms of Glorious QuickTime, HERE.
Here's Mallrat...

Hey folks, Harry here - eons ago at this same venue - James Cameron tested his epic, TITANIC, and we got an assload of reviews of the film that would go on to become the highest grossing film in the history of cinema. That was co-released by FOX and PARAMOUNT - this is FOX solo - and is AUSTRALIA that type of film? Well, it is definitely going to want a run on Oscar. And the film is apparently of extremely high quality as well as being melodramatic. Well - screw it - let's get on with the review, which has spoilers, and see what the gentleman thought...

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Luhrman seems to really divide film fans. I know just as many people who hate his work as I do people who love it. I’m a fan. I think he’s three for three so far, and I love this glimpse of what we’ll see at the end of the year. I think this looks pretty grand, an interesting mix of deliberate artifice and sweeping location work. Luhrman’s one of the guys whose work intrigues me because so far, each of his films has been bold and different.
Color me curious at this point.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. It's been a crazy week, with the Fourth falling right smack dab in the middle of it. I got a few stories for you folks before I run off and play some Hold 'Em with the weekly regulars.
Call me gay, question my taste, but I really love Baz Luhrmann's movies. STRICTLY BALLROOM, ROMEO + JULIET and MOULIN ROUGE are all movies that I love unabashedly. So, yes. I'm looking forward to his new flick, reuniting him with fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman.
Rotten Tomatoes UK got a dozen or so pics from the shooting of this flick, AUSTRALIA. If you click on the image below you'll go to their site and get a glimpse at Kidman and Luhrmann shooting in some beautiful Australian location... I love seeing the Qantas boat, by the way. I always fly Qantas when going to NZ... been trying to rack up my Qantas airmiles so I can upgrade to business on one of my trips down there... I can't imagine how awesome that 12 hour flight would be when not in coach...

Hey folks, Harry here... I don't have a lot of love for 20th Century Fox and their output of late, but even a carbunkle like me has to admit things seem to be looking, at least, interesting in the House of Rothman. The once dreary concept of a sequel to FANTASTIC FOUR - seems to at least have a silvery glimmer of a reason to be hopeful. Then there's the awe and wonder that will one day be unleashed like the Kraken upon cinema screens... yes, James Cameron's AVATAR.
However, one of the most exciting prospects is... another Baz Luhrmann film. It's a shame that his ALEXANDER has joined the famed "where'd it go" bird, the DoDo. But when he was talking about that film - he was talking of an "EPIC TRILOGY" that he was wanting to embark upon.
