Hey folks, Harry here with the happy news for the Na'vi.

First off, I want to say again I am impressed at the reaction to my Science of Avatar article. The talkback was great, and I've had hundreds of thought-provoking emails. I've even been invited to speak at the St. Louis Science Center in October where they are having a week-long festival on the Science of Avatar. I don't think it is officially announced yet, but I'll be there the weekend of October 16-17, and for at least one of my talks, I'm turning that article into a more in-depth presentation.

This should've been posted yesterday, but got lost in SPIDER-MANia.
JoBlo has - evidentially officially - posted a .pdf of James Cameron's AVATAR script.

Hey folks, Harry here - It'll be interesting to see where Cameron takes the AVATAR series, how the Na'vi story develops, what the human response is going to be... you know... that sort of thing. That said, last night, Cameron definitively stated that there will be another. So, YES!!!!!!
Hi Harry!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The weekend of AVATAR has passed and I’m here with one more story to post on the subject… at least from me. I can’t speak for the rest of the editors, but this is my last AVATAR bullet.

I love AVATAR – and it isn’t because of the 3D, the big blue people, the alien landscape with floating mountains and it’s version of flying critters. It isn’t because of the mech armor, the flying battleships and the wasp-like helicopters. It is because of the story.
Now, a story isn’t just about characters and their actions… stories are often about the times in which those actions took place. Stories are not evaluated by just the dialogue between characters, but why these conversations are taking place.

Hey, everyone. Capone in Chicago here.

It's been an excruciatingly long wait, but, in holding off ten-plus years to allow the technology to catch up to his fertile imagination, James Cameron has delivered in AVATAR an exemplary piece of world-building that will likely be cinema's CG and 3-D gold standard for years to come. It is frequently awe-inspiring, a triumph on several levels - unfortunately, none of these levels are marked "storytelling", "dialogue", "character development" or "subtle integration of theme".

My Favorite Films seen for the FIRST time in 2009
NOTE: What follows are MY TOP TWENTY Favorite Films viewed in the
calendar
year 2009...
I am a 64 year old film viewing nutcase. I majored in film & cultural
antropology in the late 1960s. I devour film from all genres, periods,
countries & cultures. I collect 16mm film. The 1st film I can remember
seeing in a theater is Song of the South in 1948 at the Liberty Theatre in
Beaumont, Texas with my mother's brother. The 1st 3-D flick I saw was Bwana
Devil with my dad at San Antonio's Majestic Theatre in 1952. The 1st

AICN reader Gilius Thunderhead got a look at the film, then shared thoughts with us...
Hey AintitCool.

The first non-documentary directorial effort since 1997 from the great James Cameron (“The Terminator,” “Terminator 2,” “Aliens,” “The Abyss,” “True Lies,” “Titanic”), “Avatar” won raves Thursday from both Hollywood film industry dailies.

Hey folks, Harry here with the latest bit of AVATAR. I know... you have probably seen just about everything you feel you need to see - you're pretty much exhausted from the various featurettes and footage glimpses. You've either decided to not see the film or you have a ticket already. But me. I'm a geek that wallows in glimpses - I love the plethora of featurettes, the 15 or so Television spots... all of it. And I'm pretty much this way with every movie.

If you're going to be around a computer in a few hours, you'll have a chance to interact with James Cameron, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, and see a "new" clip from AVATAR.

UPDATE: An AICN reader named Owen sent in a link to another interview with James Horner regarding his work on AVATAR. This print interview was conducted by the Times of London and covers some additional topics not covered in the audio interview. Enjoy!

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here targeting a flock of audio clips from James Horner's score for AVATAR (2009). I have to admit, I'm not a fan of listening to audio clips myself and have not done so in this case. I don't even really like listening to the score ahead of actually seeing the film. However, some folks are itching to be the first to wrap their ears around whatever morsels of score drop from the table of Cameron. And so, for you whom I speak of, I bring you these clips.

Hey folks, Harry here with a nice 15 minute or so interview with James Cameron in his lair, where he's working on finishing AVATAR... tick ... tick ... tick ... And yes, I saw the piece that 60 MINUTES did, but Morley looked a bit lost and out of his realm in the interview. This guy for CNN, he's a geek - you can see it. Now, he doesn't seem to be greatly informed, but he at least has a healthy appreciation for Genre work.

Merrick here...
60 MINUTES featured a 12 minute(ish) report on AVATAR last night. CBS has been kind enough to provide the piece for all to see via miraculous embed. I haven't watched this yet, so I can't vouch for its coolness. Here ya go...

Hey folks, Harry here having just returned from the gloriousness of Werner Herzog's BAD LT... and I'm giddy. Crazy movies like that are way too few and far between... That said, I come home to a new look at the HUMAN TECH of AVATAR featurette... and yeah we all need to see this movie now. Oh - and watch out at your local theaters - there's roving gangs of women laying siege. Tis crazy out there...

A four minute (ish) sequence from AVATAR has been posted over at Marketsaw.
This footage appears to be captured from an XBOX 360 playback of some sort (is this clip available through XBOX Live overseas, maybe? Looks like...) It's filmed off of a TV screen, which is hardly the best presentation for any footage. This said, the quality here isn't altogether bad.

USA Today has a pice about upcoming Holiday movies; they have a new AVATAR image to go with it. This is of Zoe Saldana's character Neytiri.

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here with some information regarding the score release of a little independent film that you may not have heard of called AVATAR (2009). You see, this guy named James Horner did the music. He did something else once but I can't quite recall what it was.
Anyway, his music for AVATAR will be released soon and ComingSoon.net posted all the gory details:

Hey folks, Harry here and I haven't posted the last several AVATAR link style stories so I haven't really had a chance to ring in with my take on all of this. The coolest new thing that I'm seeing in the recent spate of Trailers and TV spots - have been the paint on the Na'vi faces. Then in this latest spot, there's a shot of Jake's Avatar - waking up with dirt on his face - and man... it is this stuff that looks so damn good to me. The shot of our two love-aliens swimming together... Man.

There's a 3 minute (+) trailer for AVATAR hitting theaters today; it won't be online officially until next week. Except: it's already escaped onto the Internet, where it can now be seen in inglorious mud-o-vision.
