Today kicked off with my discussion with Gilbert Shelton at the Austin Convention Center. Our main source of discussion was about the upcoming FABULOUS FURRY FREAK BROTHERS movie. They've pretty much finished with a lot of pre-production and they're currently seeking out financing to complete what will be an incredibly enjoyable and hilarious film... if it comes to pass.

Hey folks, Harry here with this week’s DVD column – few hours later than normal, but here still. I was doing this last night – picked the titles and pre-coded the article, but when I went to start writing it – my eyes began to fall heavy – and the lack of sleep from SXSW really killed me. These first several titles are all pretty weak to me – there isn’t a lot of greatness this week, that’s next week. As usual the images and titles link to Amazon for further information and purchasing ease.

DAY FOUR
Just a reminder - I am NOT a professional critic, nor do I pretend to be one. I bang these things out at the end of the day, usually around one or two in the morning, exhausted, and occasionally drunk.
I’m not going to dive into serious, cogent analysis, nor am I trying to look at these movies from any perspective other than that of a guy sitting in the audience. One of the most frustrating things you can hear at a story meeting is “I get it, but will an audience?”

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with another review from South By Southwest and this one is a doozy.
There came a moment a little more than half-way through A SERBIAN FILM where my jaw was literally hanging open. I had always assumed that was a figure of speech, an exaggeration of the moment of shock and sometimes I’ve feigned it when giving my friends a look during a particularly fucked up moment in a movie (which usually tend to be Japanese), but this time I realized that does happen in real life.

DAY THREE
There’s a story behind each of the films I want to tell you about today, but first, just a word to the wise for anyone who’s here in Austin - Thunder Soul - the movie I told you about yesterday - will be playing again this week. It shows today, Monday, at 6:45 at the Drafthouse, and Friday at 2:30 at the Paramount. Do yourself a favor and get on this train before it leaves the station.

Hey folks, Harry here with a look at one of the Fantastic Fest/SXSW flicks - a film called MONSTERS - and I've heard really strong word on this film. Here ya go...

Today's schedule became infinitely easier once SXSW Festival Producer, Janet Pierson, requested that I handle the Q&A with Jean Pierre Jeunet after MIC MACS at the Paramount Theater. I was not planning on even coming face to face with Jeunet. The man is one of my personal favorite filmmakers of all time. As such - the fondness I feel for him is the type of fondness that usually causes one to tremble, go blank in the presence of and basically make an ass out of myself.

Hey folks, Harry here! Now, here's Josh Olson's day two of SXSW - I really hate I missed THUNDER SOUL this morning. Literally everyone that I've spoken to has gone gaga for it. Here's Josh...
Day two
Still getting my sea legs. Only saw four films today. I would have seen five if the secret midnight show hadn’t turned out to be a movie that’s screening at least three other times this week and that I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in seeing.

Hey folks, Harry here... I was introduced to Josh Olson by our mutual friend, Harlan Ellison when Harlan came to SXSW to promote and support DREAMS WITH SHARP TEETH... and Josh came along to attend. As we devoured ribs and told tall tales all night long, we kinda hit it off. When Josh asked if I'd welcome his insight into this year's SXSW... I told him to get to writing and that I'd look forward to reading and passing on his takes to you good folks. He had a short day to start with, but I expect to see a bit more in the coming days - he hit it pretty hard today it seems.

SXSW (aka South By Southwest) is a sometimes cruel and unwieldy wench for those of us that would like to be everywhere so we can share with you what was happening everywhere. Take for example... Tonight, the first night of SXSW. Basically - all at once you had to choose to see KICK ASS' world premiere at the movie palace of Austin, the famed PARAMOUNT THEATER - which I can only imagine was UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLY AWE-INSPIRING...

Hey folks, Harry here with the latest trailer for ROBIN HOOD - and it really is the best trailer they've done. Showing us that they will tell us the story of ROBIN HOOD beginning as a child, the ethics that his father reenforced in him and lastly... badass old school action.
I have no fear that this will supplant my love for Michael Curtiz's perfect ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD - but it does look like a damn fine alternative take. I'm interested. How about you?

Hey folks, Harry here... Now this... God, who even knows what a J Edgar Hoover pic would be. That J Edgar Hoover was a short, paranoid, power-hungry cross-dressing oddball that forever changed Law Enforcement for the better... well, that we know. But what would a bio-pic by Clint Eastwood hone in on. Would he leave the shots of J Edgar in his dress at home as he reads through reports?

Hey folks, Harry here - sorry these stories weren't posted earlier, but Yoko had grabbed me to take her shopping, and I've spent way way waaaaay too much time in places like XXI FOREVER (which had a stunningly beautiful check out lady that could work in film, the camera would worship her), the GAP, NORDSTROMS, etc... My brain is a tad mushy - but hey, I got a killer ridiculous hat by Robert Graham to wear throughout SXSW... so it is all good.

Hey folks, Harry here and I want to wear my Cheesehead hat to the premiere of this one. It seems that Al Capone aka Robert DeNiro is set to play Vince Lombardi - perhaps the most legendary and beloved coach, this side of Tom Landry... ahem, in NFL history... so much so, when you win the SUPER BOWL, you get to take a trophy named after him home.

Hey folks, Harry here… There’s not really a lot coming out this week that I love. So I encourage you to raid your NETFLIX INSTANT for all its worth. Right now, I’m watching THE BREAKFAST CLUB… saw some silly show Sunday night that made me watch it tonight. As usual the pictures and titles are linked to AMAZON where you can buy the item, where a small percentage would go to support this column… OR you can learn even more about the title. Thanks for reading!

HEy folks, Harry here with the awesome that is TRON: LEGACY. At least I hope. The trailer is all about atmosphere and setup. We learn, it feels cool. Looks interesting as hell, but we don't really know much about where this is all headed. I like that. The awesome reader that discovered this secret location of TRON LEGACY Trailer goodness? Here he is:

Hey folks, Harry here... as you noticed, I didn;t twitter that "harry here" because Harry is here - on AICN - not on Twitter tonight. That's right - as I have done the past 13 years, I will be live blogging in little bits my reaction to the Oscar broadcast. Now - I love and hate the Academy Awards... It is an awards show above all others - it is gaudy, glitzy, crazy and insane. But I hate the campaigns. Personally, I wish the Academy did screeners and that's it. No meet and greet with the Academy members, no Academy junket style Q&As with the filmmakers...

Hey folks, Harry here... Tonight, at the Alamo Village, is going to be two showings of one of the strangest movies you'll ever have the likelihood of ever seeing, if you show up that is.

I love girl bands. I like a lot of music, but girl bands... especially girl bands like THE RUNAWAYS... I saw THE RUNAWAYS at the Armadillo World Headquarters in that glorious world of the seventies when I was just a kid. My parents took me, it wasn't some cute as Barbie group - they were ferocious... and most importantly they fucking rocked. Literally...

Hey folks, Harry here... This is not an upcoming movie... sadly. This is a work of brilliant parody done to perfection. I present for your enjoyment... THE MUPPET WICKER MAN starring The Muppets...

Hey folks, Harry here with another reader that has discovered the absolute joy of SOLOMON KANE, which has yet to grace a theatrical release in the United States, despite being utterly badass. Here's a look from a reader called MC D-LYTE:
Hello Mister Knowles,

Hey folks, Harry here with the first DVD column of March. There’s some cool stuff here, but I still haven’t had a single week thus far this year that had me freaking out. Part of why the columns got behind. This may be the best, but too many things that should be getting a High Def treatment aren’t… LOOKING AT YOU DISNEY! As always the pics and titles link over to Amazon, where if you purchase the item, this column gets a percentage. For which I thank you for greatly. Now – get on with it…

Hey folks, Harry here with news on the highly anticipated TRON LEGACY trailer which was selectively screened this morning around this country and beyond. From the sound of it, I really really hope it is in front of my screening of ALICE IN WONDERLAND in IMAX 3D this Monday, but that could possibly be, just my own personal idol masturbatory fantasy wish. Anyway - we had a host of spies write in with their coverage of having seen the trailer - so without further bs from me, here ya go...
