Hey folks, Harry here... Earlier tonight I was at the Alamo Drafthouse South - where in the lobby there was a striking (pun intended) Standee for PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF. It is the poster art, but with Percy Jackson throwing a flashing and thundering lightning bolt. Just in time for all the NEW MOON girls to notice(?) as they ponder bloodsports or bestiality. Then I spy the new trailer online and I get what Fox hopes happens with this series.

Hey folks, Harry here... I met Kevin Conran, the production designer on SKY CAPTAIN & THE WORLD OF TOMORROW when I did the big SKY CAPTAIN event screening here in Austin, where we had real P-40s buzz the movie theater, the staff all dressed in period garb and the the theater was sandbagged right out of a Fleischer SUPERMAN cartoon. Kevin came up excitedly to tell me how much he appreciated my geeky enthusiasm over his first Teaser poster for SKY CAPTAIN.

Hey folks, Harry here... Right now - I'm supervising final art on our T-shirt, awaiting final art for the one-sheet, completing the seating chart, programming and making final print arrangements and contacts and running times and on and on and on... It really is a whole lot of fun, but there's a whole lot of work that goes into all of that.

Hey folks, Harry here with a reader review from tonight's Arclight Test Screening of KICKASS in LaLaLand. And it seems like our reader friend in London - the film has similarly kicked another of your asses. Time is going to stretch till we see this. At least it already feels that way to me.
Hi Harry,

Hey folks, Harry here and I have to say... This was a very interesting process this year. It was rather amazing how many shaved their heads. That wasn't my intention. I was raised by hippies, so the idea of shaving one's head... well, that's astonishingly inconceivable to me. Some people were chosen by their choices of Sid Haig or Walter Murch films. Some via their creative and unusual Masturbation Material. Jeff Mahler's choice of the film AQUAMARINE was quite telling and almost caused his dismissal - but not quite.

Hey folks, Harry here with great news from a London test screening that took place tonight. The word is, KICK ASS kicks ass - but I could've told ya that. My anticipation has quadrupled now. Next year can't be here soon enough!!!
Hi Harry,
Just got back from the screening of Kick-Ass, and I'm happy to report that it is fucking awesome!!!

Hosting the IMAX 3D screening of A CHRISTMAS CAROL at our local IMAX last night was bittersweet. Sweet, because we were seeing A CHRISTMAS CAROL before its world premiere in Hollywood tonight... Bitter, because my sister, nephew and wife could not attend. That wasn't at all a distraction during the movie, it was just... as I was leaving the theater with Father Geek - I found myself missing my own larger family.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The final episode of that great series documenting the talented king of geeks Mr. Bob Burns and the amazing Halloween shows he put on back in the '60s and '70s.
This last episode is the longest of the bunch and focuses on the very last show Bob did, which also happens to be the biggest show he ever did... recreating the Howard Hawks THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD down to the smallest detail.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with my thoughts on the Michael Jackson concert-that-never-was film THIS IS IT.
Like most of my generation Michael Jackson was a staple of my childhood. It was a huge deal when a new single hit, when a new record (or tape in my day) was released… It was a badge of honor amongst my friends to own Thriller… yes, even with that totally non-zombiefied MJ cover.

Hey folks, Harry here and this is something that a BNAT attendee, a long timer... Pam Nail put together to explain BUTT-NUMB-A-THON in its cinematic terms. And it made me a little misty eyed, I have to say - cuz I'm proud of the programming I've done. Whether it be the greatest of modern film to the absolute funkiest of the funky or the shocking horrific realization or the politically incorrect. The in-jokes and personality of the fest. The quirks and my private fetishes...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I may not be cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, but I am fuckin' nuts for Fred Dekker's 1980s one-two punch of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS and MONSTER SQUAD and am one happy camper that they're both getting the DVD treatment after decades of obscurity.
Night of the Creeps hits DVD and Blu-Ray this coming Tuesday and I heard of some signings going down in LA that I wanted to make fellow Creeps aware of.

HIFF 29: YOU MAY SAY I'M A DREAMER
by Albert Lanier
When I was a child, I used to always hear from adults-whether teachers or other older authority figures I had no use for-that I should "use my imagination."
I always found that an interesting phrase and as a kid I would have all kinds of fantastical dreams and fantasies which I will not go into detail about here.
