Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. This weekend the handsome bearded bear who calls himself Devin Faraci ran quite a juicy rumor over at CHUD regarding a remake of Carol Reed's brilliant noir THE THIRD MAN starring Joseph Cotten, Trevor Howard and Orson Welles.

Hey folks, Harry here and I'm wondering... is Peter Jackson going to direct the remake of DAMBUSTERS, as I thought he was only going to be producing it. He definitely has the mad passion to do it, having made new Lancaster Bombers for the film. Which is just kinda amazing. But the great news is that Stephen Fry is writing the screenplay, how cool is that?

Hey folks, Harry here with the latest bit of Superhero Film Casting News and it is very strange indeed. According to actor, Matthias Schweighöfer, who you may have seen in VALKYRIE or RED BARON - in an article in the German edition of Gentlemen's Quarterly aka GQ, he states that he's in the running for a role in Branagh's THOR, but he also mentions that Jude Law and Robert DeNiro have joined the cast.

Hey folks, Harry here and the world is going completely screwy. Drew has got to be so pissed off that he's not Moriarty anymore! What a maroon! Man had the chance to wander the Earth bragging that Brad Pitt was playing him in a real live movie, and he goes and takes up the alias, Drew McWeeny! Now - I've heard whispers of additional shooting going on with SHERLOCK HOLMES and my curiousity in this early announcement from Warner Brothers is this... Was the additional shoots regarding a bridge to the next film?

Hey folks, Harry here with a pair of stories regarding GREEN LANTERN and the Australian media. On foreign productions we're often dependent upon our colleagues overseas to do a good job in reporting film related news. But, as always, you must consider the source.

Hey folks, Harry here - There have been a great deal of rumblings of this project gaining increasing momentum. The following is not decisive information, meaning Jeremy's reading and screen-testing for the part. That just means he's most likely one in a handful of names at this stage. Now - is Jeremy Renner fucking A you're right for MAD MAX? Yessirree!!! I would be genuinely excited if Renner nabbed the role. It'd be perfect frankly. Damn I love the idea of a MAD MAX movie starring Renner. What about all of you?

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Looks like BLADE is coming back... but without Blade. Somehow.
Listen, I like Stephen Dorff... I have since I was a kid and watched THE GATE, like, 700 times. I liked him in the original Blade, but I don't know if I really NEED to see a Blade prequel starring his character let alone a three movie telling of Deacon Frost's rise through the vampire ranks.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. If I were an evil mastermind trying to frame a movie studio, make them look like the biggest fools with the most money-hungry, lowest common denominator lifeless franchise-killing products I couldn't do anything to top what Rothman and Co have been doing to Fox for the last half-dozen years.

So, it has been brought to my attention (in a dickish way) that this rumor seems to be a recycled one from back in 2000. Check this out:
"And actress Cate Blanchett has been tipped to take over the role of Clarice Starling after Jodie Foster pulled out to direct Claire Danes in the forthcoming Flora Plum.
A spokesperson for film-makers Universal says, "Hopkins and Scott are both very committed. We like what we've got, and the revised script is really, really good.""

Hey folks, Harry here... A little bird flew into my Blackberry and whispered to me of a new and exciting development with the upcoming adaptation of Vertigo's LOSERS! Sylvain White is directing and thus far the announced cast has Jeffrey Dean Morgan as CLAY, Zoe Saldana as AISHA, Idris Elba as ROQUE and Columbus Short as POOCH... But anyone that is familiar with the comic - well, the curious part of it all is who would be right for the criminal mastermind that toys with the LOSERS - my source says it is JASON PATRIC - which is really good news - as Jason is as perfect as they come!

Hey folks, Harry here - I had been hearing much of what this new "spy" offers via sources on the inside. AND as of this juncture, it looks like most of this is really solid. The AVENGERS move was done with the best hopes of Favreau coming aboard, whether or not anybody will go on record saying that, it is what I've heard for a while now, and I wasn't surprised by its date movement today.

Hey folks, Harry here... Ballack has been a reliable and constant source of geek rumor news online for many sites, including AICN. This time he's come in with a big one. Now, these are the sorts of rumors that only time confirms, because when you contact folks involved, you get non-denial denials - and no comments. The reason is this. Until paperwork is signed and sealed, these are musings of history... Moments where this is what is going on behind the scenes - but let's see if they make their way to being more than musings, but actual reality.

Yesterday, we got a look at a batch of photos which revealed Playmate's toy line from Abrams' new STAR TREK movie. You can find those HERE.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Lord knows my bullshit detector isn't great when it comes to early photos. I posted some early concepts of Heath Ledger as the Joker that, while accurate to all available information at the time, were fan-made.

Hey folks, Harry here... I don't know about you, but I'm right there with Protozoid (writer below) with a sense of giddy prayer that it is happening. The idea of Malick bringing one of the most legendary (and mysterious) poems of the English language to life... well, that it is a poem and that Malick is nothing if not a cinematic poet... Consider AICN officially on the case now. And we're praying it comes to be.
Hey, fellas

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Okay, first off... consider this rumor... and even consider it an unlikely rumor given that Tarantino recently did an interview in which he said he would never ever have an original score to any of his films... I think he said, to paraphrase, why should he get an original score when he can hand pick the perfect cues from the best composers to have ever lived, a whole history of motion picture music at his disposal?

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
I'm in London, it's just after 8:14 in the morning, and I have to go shower and get ready to head to the set of KICK-ASS for today. All very last minute. But before I run out the door, there's an e-mail from a spy who makes a very persuasive case that there is indeed a director onboard now for the CONAN project that Lionsgate has been developing.

Hey folks, Harry here... What A Bummer! I followed up with Frank Darabont about the below story, and unfortunately it is true. Frank and the production parted ways over a week ago. Oh well, my enthusiasm for the production has now ebbed.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
Okay. Let’s get something straight regarding the occasional BUZZKILL column here on the site. I’ve got nothing against a good rumor. My problem is with bad rumors. I’ve been sifting through them for 12 years online, and I’ve got a decent average. Not perfect. But decent. Either you buy that by now or you don’t.

Hey folks, Harry here... Does anyone here want to see Will Smith play Captain America? I like Will Smith - but I hate stunt casting. Ugh. I just don't have the energy to address this rumor - but let's hope that is all that it is...

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
I didn’t say rumors are bad as an absolute.
Of course they’re not. Discussion of rumors is a big part of being a movie fan. Has been as long as I’ve been a movie fan. And I would never, under any circumstance, say “never ever listen to a rumor.” That’s just silly, and if that’s what it sounded like I was saying in the last “Buzzkill,” then I’m sorry.
