Hey folks, Harry here... I'm not apologetic in the least for my disdain of the worst President in the history of the United States, George Bush Jr. What he has done to this country & to the world outside of our borders is beyond reprehensible. In his 8 years he and his cronies have systematically Tonya Harding'd the good ol U.S. of A. - to such a point that our station in the world order has tumbled, our dollar is becoming increasingly worthless, our homes our being taken away and our brave young men & women are dying for his vanity and war mongering.

Hey folks, Harry here... I don't usually do this. I rarely endorse a petition effort going on online, because frankly... it takes a lot to motivate me. However, when I got an email from Scott Essman asking for my help in attempting to secure a Star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame for Movie Make-up legend Jack Pierce... I clicked, signed the petition - then came back here to pitch all of you... and all you good folks at Universal Studios.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
When I spoke on a panel at the recent Fangoria Weekend of Horrors in LA, I was surprised by the turnout both for the panel and for the autograph session afterwards. It made me feel great to see all the PRO-LIFE and CIGARETTE BURNS DVD covers people brought, and to field some questions on BAT OUT OF HELL (expect our director announcement soon).

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I like the online horror community a lot. Everyone knows everyone, and even though a number of sites compete for scoops and exclusives, I still get a sense that everyone is united in their love of the genre.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
Okay... time for a wee bit of shameless self-promotion. If you’re in the Los Angeles area this weekend and you’re a horror fan, I’m going to assume you already plan to attend the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors convention. If not, you should. They’ve moved to the LA Convention Center this year, and it’s going to be a fairly huge event.
And somehow, someone thought having me as part of a panel was a decent idea. I’m as surprised as you are.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'd like to start by congratulating Moriarty for bravely coming forward and telling us all about the controversial operation he recently underwent to physically attach himself to his co-writer, Scott Swan. There is no more Drew McWeeny and there is no more Scott Swan. There is only McSwanny now. The benefit is a symbiotic twin-like shared consciousness and four hands that can turn out horror scripts in about 3.5 hours. The drawback is the visual appearance, but I guess that only can inspire their work.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I’m a big believer in Team Dowdle.
I don’t give a shit what people say. THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES works on audiences, and the fact that I still get angry e-mails now, almost four months after BNAT, seems to suggest the film lingers with viewers, too.
Now, the Dowdles are prepping the release of QUARANTINE, their first studio picture. This is a remake of [REC], the Spanish horror sensation that’s still rolling out around the world as we speak.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Can't say I'm familiar with this Oni Press graphic novel, but it sounds up my alley. Described as a horror noir film about an LA private dick taking on a new gang in town with ties to the supernatural. Sure, I'm game. Sounds a tad like the really sweet Charlie Huston series began with his book ALREADY DEAD about a vampire private detective taking on the supernatural seedy underbelly of his city.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Never heard of this one, but when Vern starts tossing around comparisons to the original TEXAS CHAINSAW, I start paying attention, because I know how highly he regards that film. I love indie horror that comes out of nowhere to surprise you, so is this going to be a film worth seeking out? Only Vern knows...

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I think Alex Aja is a very talented horror filmmaker. I’m not sure he’s really found the right project yet to fully showcase what he’s capable of, but he’s got chops, and there are moments in all of his work that really unnerve.
So how’s his new one? Well, one spy has seen it, and he’s got his report for you today:

Hey folks, Harry here… Boy – I tell you what… if I never have another week like this one, I’ll be a happy camper. My grandmother’s in the hospital. My wife’s grandmother is in a hospital today for surgery. And I got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Which resulted in me buying workout clothes, vitamins, a gym membership and hiring a personal trainer to whip my ass for not talking all you good folks advice for years.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm in Prague at the moment and about to head off for a set visit (more on that soon), but I have a few moments and saw this story hit the trades, so I figured I'd run something on it.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
I would call this an exclusive, except it appears that the fine folks over at Bloody-Disgusting have confirmed the same information, so let’s just call this “exciting news I can personally vouch is correct,” and leave it at that.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
I am weary of all things zombie.
One of the reasons I am drawn to horror as a genre is because of the versatility of it. You can comment on almost any social situation or offer observations on any facet of daily life using horror, if you just figure out how to bend the various tropes of the genre to your purpose. Or, if you want, you can just scare the shit out of someone. Either or, really.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a quick look at two upcoming DVD releases. THE MIST hits on DVD this very day and SWEENEY TODD hits next Tuesday. Both have single disc edition and two-disc special editions. Of course, the single disc editions on both are worthless, and the two-discers are the ones to opt for.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
I liked THE MIST a hell of a lot.
In fact, I liked it so much I named it #16 on my end-of-the-year list.
If they had released the new black-and-white version of the film in theaters, I honestly think that (A) it would have made more and (B) critics would have handled it better. As it is, this is the new JOHN CARPENTER’S THE THING. This is that real-deal no-shit horror film that will have to settle for being “rediscovered.”

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I know the headline for this says it’s my Final Day at SXSW, but that doesn’t mean it’s my final report.
I had a pretty crazy final day at SXSW. For the first time in about 11 years of attending this fest I crossed over to the music portion, so my final day of SXSW was a mixture of both music and movies… the combination that makes SXSW so special.

Hey folks, Harry here with a treat that first pop'd up over at EW.com - that's right the first image of THE WOLFMAN from Rick Baker - and over at EW - they have an interview with the way too talented for human existence, Rick Baker. Now this is a Wolfman...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm a trailer fiend, always have been. As a kid they were half the fun of going to the movies. It was all well and good I was going to watch an anticipated movie, but what's coming soon to a theater near me?

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I should hate this movie on general principle. I spent a year or so working on a home invasion film with a pair of producers I like a lot, and my writing partner and I finally turned in a script we all liked a heck of a lot. Unfortunately, THE STRANGERS turned out to be a cockblock on an epic scale, preventing us from getting our film made because of similar ground being covered.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Some nice looking shots from the upcoming WOLFMAN flick outta Universal. I read Andrew Kevin Walker's original draft and it was great, but I'm hearing some disturbing things about the rewrites diminishing the awesomeness of the original draft. I hope Joe Johnston was able to tinker with it a bit in the weeks before shooting.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love David Gordon Green's work, especially his recent film SNOW ANGELS, which I saw at the '07 Sundance Film Festival.
