Don’t bother with talkback on this one; this post will vanish within 24 hours, just like the sale.
Monday it was “Lost” and Tuesday it was “The King of Queens.” It's upfront week, and it looks like Amazon might be celebrating by offering 24-hour series-set deals all this week. Up for today and today only:

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Word on the street has been that Spielberg was quietly developing his Lincoln picture while finishing up on INDY 4. Looks like that word has been proven right.

Jennie Garth will reprise her role as Kelly Taylor in the CW’s coming sequel to “Beverly Hills 90210.” Taylor will pop up in a recurring role as West Beverly Hills High’s guidance counselor.
Garth is the first member of the original cast to find herself in the sequel series developed by “Veronica Mars” mastermind Rob Thomas. “Freaks and Geeks” vets Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah re-wrote the pilot and may serve as series showrunners.

AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” the tale of a dying high school chemistry instructor turned meth monger, will soon be trafficking in new episodes.
Sister series “Mad Men” received its own second-season order last summer.

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here. By sheer coincidence, I wrote reviews of two documentaries in the same day, the subjects of which I saw at two separate Pearl Jam concerts. One film, BODY OF WAR, is opening slowly across the country right now; the subject is a young Iraq veteran who appeared on stage with Pearl Jam at last year's Lollapalooza, which I attended. The subjects of the other film, SONG SUNG BLUE, are of an entirely different variety. In the summer of 1995, I saw one of my first Pearl Jam shows at Milwaukee Summerfest.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Looks like the AMPTP have pulled out of negotiations with SAG. It actually reads like a replay of what they did to the Writers. SAG has taken DVD off the table in order to avoid a strike and the producers have just dropped them.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm not an expert on JANE EYRE... sure, I've seen the story told, but it's not something I get particularly excited about... Now Ruby Films (producers of THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL) is launching another take on the material and has cast Ellen Page in the lead.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Here’s another one that I’ve had to wait to write about, but now that it’s premiered and it’ll be out in theaters, I can finally get to it. In the meantime, here’s one reader’s reaction to that premiere screening, along with a very pointed observation about the venue of that premiere:
I saw the world premiere of Redbelt at the Tribeca Film Festival last night (Friday).

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Ang Lee's about to rejoin once again with Focus Features and make a flick about the events leading up to the original Woodstock. Sounds pretty interesting. The comedy is based on Elliot Tiber's book TAKING WOODSTOCK: A TRUE STORY OF A RIOT, A CONCERT AND A LIFE.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I just posted a story for the American Teen trailer, which is a great trailer for a great movie. This trailer below is an okay trailer for a great movie. I think the trailer is a little clunky. If it were me, I'd really sell the nostalgia factor. The movie is a love-letter to the early '90s. Also, the heart of the film is the friendship between Ben Kingsley and Josh Peck, which is just skimmed in the trailer.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love this movie. It was my favorite documentary at Sundance, which is saying a lot considering how many phenomenal docs played this year.
Paramount Vantage picked it up and they've cut a great trailer for the flick... How I love thee, Hannah Bailey... le sigh...

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I like this one, and I don’t care what anyone else says about it. It’s a sweet little movie, a light little thing, and I’m curious to see if Capone liked it anymore than the general film press seems to:

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Appropriately enough, we’ve got a showdown here.
First up, a guy who really, really, really didn’t like Mamet’s new film at all:
Harry,
Just saw a sneak of David Mamet's jujitsu flick REDBELT at the Aero in Santa Monica last nite (with Mamet and Ricky Jay in person doing a Q&A afterwards).

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Thomas McCarthy? Dig him.
Richard Jenkins? Really dig him?
Capone? Sure... I dig him, too.
Put ‘em together, and I think it’s safe to say that I dig this review, and I hope to catch up to this film soon, since I missed it when it screened here in LA. I was really looking forward to it, too. It looks great.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Ron Howard is a machine.
I am always amazed by these guys who can move from one film to another without pause, and Howard stays crazy busy. FROST/NIXON was a great play, and I thought the script adaptation was very strong. It all comes down to how well Howard co-ordinates these performances and how he’s able to turn this into a cinematic experience as opposed to just a stage piece.
To the Pseudonym whom it may concern,

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I saw much celebrating in talkbacks recently... seems a whole lot of people were... let's say enthusiastic about Ms. Emma Watson turning 18 years old. Yeah, that's our group alright...
Anyway, now they can enjoy her completely guilt-free in a non-Harry Potter film. She's just replaced Scarlett Johansson in NAPOLEON & BETSY about a young woman who falls in love with Napoleon as he is exiled on the small British Island of St. Helena.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We're seeing a return to the period crime dramas... Michael Mann has PUBLIC ENEMIES in the works with Depp and Bale, Clint Eastwood has CHANGELING with Angelina Jolie and now Ridley Scott has THE KIND ONE, with Casey Affleck in the lead. He won't be the title character, though. Affleck will play an amnesiac working for a gangster in 1930s LA. The gangster is known as The Kind One... an ironic moniker as he will be far from kind.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Mamet’s always sort of hit-or-miss for me when he’s working as a director, so I’m a little surprised by how dead-center REDBELT hit me. I think it’s great, and I’ll be reviewing it very soon.
Today, though, we’ve got regular spy Psychedelic with his take on it:
Hey Harry and Martial Artists,
