Hey folks, Harry here - So far we've been presenting you local Texan readers of AICN with a good deal of screening events here at the Alamo South - and hopefully that run will continue. This week we have PRINCE CASPIAN lined up - and it should be something fun. Moriarty has seen it - and enjoyed it, but he can't say that due to "Embargo" - but nobody told me I couldn't say that Moriarty liked it... God forbid we tell you that. Heh. Anyway - we'll be seeing for ourselves quite shortly... Hope to see you there!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Call me optimistic, but this is the first review that we've gotten that gives me a lot of hope for the movie. The themes this movie plays with, according to Mr. Flint, to me signals the kind of movie I was hoping for.

Hey folks, Harry here... Sergio over at TVweek.Com sent over this - proof of a third season of HEROES - for us to look at. Now sure... as every diehard HEROES freak knew... of course we were getting a 3rd season - we've been obsessing after a truncated, slightly misfiring 2nd season... but now we're eager and hungry for more. It doesn't really tell us much, but what it does tell us - is that perhaps this season will be dealing with a hero, in their attempts to do the right thing... could they cause a greater harm...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm doing my best not to let these reviews bring me down. I was shopping last night and picked up some Indiana Jones toys (Belloq and Crystal Skull Indy) as well as some Dark Knight toys (damn ebayers fleecing all the Jokers out of the stores!). I was sent the new DVD box set of all three INDIANA JONES movies and have been watching the special features... RAIDERS is on right now, just finished with one of my favorite scenes, when Marion accidentally hits Indy in the face with the mirror.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Lionsgate has bumped up Frank Miller's adaptation of Will Eisner's THE SPIRIT out of 2009. It's now hitting Christmas Day '08. My guess is to get as much distance between it and WATCHMAN as possible, both are going to be hard edged comic book movies aimed at older geeks (meaning not children).
I'm very curious about this one. Hope it's good.

Looks like the split between Paramount and Tom Cruise may have been short-lived!

Cruise is now in talks with Paramount to star in a fourth "Mission: Impossible" film.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Variety has a story saying that action mongers Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay may reteam, this time for HBO doing a flick about the Miami drug scene based loosely on COCAINE COWBOYS, the 2006 documentary.
It wouldn't be BAD BOYS, but a brutal and serious look at the horrible world of drug dealers.
Word is they'd both produce. No idea if Bay would direct. Thoughts?

Hey folks, Harry here... Over at IndianaJones.Com - we have the debut, in Quicktime HD - of the trailer you probably saw on IRON MAN this weekend. The trailer hints at some cool stuff... apparently in the temple of the crystal skull - it is guarded by the living dead. That's cool. There also seems to be some sort of underground testing facility - and man... how much do you love that WILD ONE homage that Steven did with Shia? Yeah?

Oh, Favs, you did it this time.
IRON MAN is grown-up fun, a rare thing these days. It’s escapism, no doubt about it, and it’s light as air for most of its running time, even with a surprisingly high body count and a rough-and-tumble aesthetic. This is not, however, a kid’s movie, and that is such a welcome discovery that IRON MAN seems even greater than it would if it were just another kid-friendly superhero film.

Hey folks, Harry here... just got back from the orgasmically fantastic screening IRON MAN that just blew the roof off the ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE SOUTH - and just when I thought I couldn't have a more perfect comic book geek day - I get an email showing me where this Sunday - a fantastic new trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT is coming this Sunday! -- Then - like four emails down was this link... that just well - the quality sucks but ya know what - the trailer sure as hell doesn't!

I’m hoping Warner Bros. won’t make me wait until opening day to talk about this movie, because right now, I’m a little amazed by the negativity still buzzing around it. I’ve seen it, and although I can’t review it, I don’t think it’s some sort of state secret to say I think it’s pretty great.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. WANTED looks fucking crazy. I don't drop the f-bomb wantonly here. That is how the movie is registered in my brain. I've seen a few scenes cut together and it's ridiculous, huge, crazy... That might mean bad for some of you, it might mean great for some of you. I haven't quite decided which it is for me yet. I suppose I'll know when I see the film, but I can say that WANTED is a big screen movie. It's a film that is made to be a theatrical experience.

It’s been a life-long dream for me to visit ILM, Skywalker Ranch and Pixar Animation Studios (well, with Pixar maybe not life-long, but it feels like they’ve been in my life forever). In one trip to San Francisco I got to achieve a couple of those dreams. Two out of three ain’t bad, right?
