Because you demanded it, a Richard Kelly-less Donnie Darko sequel!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I was out most of the day catching up on some end of the week errands and I return to the computer to find the email inbox flooded with readers sending links to Screen Daily who have a story up about a sales company called Velvet Octopus who will be shopping a sequel to DONNIE DARKO at Cannes.

CLONE WARS trailer hits in HD Quicktime!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... As I was watching CNN HD last night - as Lou Dobbs went to commercial - suddenly a green MPAA trailer screen filled as a voice said, "And now an exclusive look at the new STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS trailer" -- And I watched this trailer and felt glee... You know - the modern Star Wars trilogy - which I did enjoy... but I was always conflicted by the CG... it felt like it wanted to be a cartoon. It seemed that George, honestly, was wanting to have absolute visual control... and that really does work best in the animated format.

Fantastic news for fans of BIOSHOCK!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. If you own or have been in the immediate vicinity of an XBOX 360 in the last year you've probably played BIOSHOCK. If you haven't, BIOSHOCK was one of the coolest releases on any platform last year.

The game opens with an ocean plane crash. You control the one survivor as he's adrift. As the wreckage of his plane sinks he sees a small, rocky island... weirdly, there's an art deco style building.

A more positive, yet far more damning, review of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL comes in...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm doing my best not to let these reviews bring me down. I was shopping last night and picked up some Indiana Jones toys (Belloq and Crystal Skull Indy) as well as some Dark Knight toys (damn ebayers fleecing all the Jokers out of the stores!). I was sent the new DVD box set of all three INDIANA JONES movies and have been watching the special features... RAIDERS is on right now, just finished with one of my favorite scenes, when Marion accidentally hits Indy in the face with the mirror.

This is not JJ Abrams' Enterprise...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love that above image, created by Gabe Koerner, who you may remember as being one of the central figures of the Star Trek fan doc TREKKIES. It's a beautiful image, something that would be impressive to see on the big screen.

As If George Bush Couldn't Be A Sadder Scarier Loathsome Cretin...

Hey folks, Harry here... I'm not apologetic in the least for my disdain of the worst President in the history of the United States, George Bush Jr. What he has done to this country & to the world outside of our borders is beyond reprehensible. In his 8 years he and his cronies have systematically Tonya Harding'd the good ol U.S. of A. - to such a point that our station in the world order has tumbled, our dollar is becoming increasingly worthless, our homes our being taken away and our brave young men & women are dying for his vanity and war mongering.

Harry's DVD Picks & Peeks - 1st week of May DVDs: Bob Dylan, Tornadoes, Vagina Dentata, THE CAR, Evil Children and Bollywood! +

Hey folks, Harry here… Sorry this was a day late, but I pulled a muscle in my back and really didn’t feel right writing. Sucks – I know… but it’s feeling much better now. This week isn’t the most amazing – but next week is the shit - especially if you love vintage films like me. As always the box art and titles are linked to the titles’ Amazon pages where you can learn more about the title – or you can purchase, thus supporting this column. I hope you dig it. I’m working on next weeks already!
