Merrick here...
Early last month, Brett Ratner did an interview with MTV regarding BEVERLY HILLS COP 4.
A particular quote in the interview lead many to the logical conclusion that the new BHC project would have a considerably softer tone/rating than its predecessors.
When asked what is biggest challenge would be, Ratner seemed to indicate that his new film would be geared towards a very PG audience.

DAY SEVEN
Harry’s already raved about RICHARD GARRIOT: MAN ON A MISSION, and the only thing I can really add to it is this - if you think Harry might be compromised by being too close to the subject (as he discusses in his review), you’re wrong. It really is that good. The film’s a wonderful reminder of how important space travel is, and what an incredible dream it is. The film gave me a smidgen of genuine hope for the future of humanity, and if you knew me, you’d know that’s a big deal.

At ShoWest, Warner president Alan Horn confirmed the coming of another FINAL DESTINATION film.
While the title of the last entry in the series...THE FINAL DESTINATION...kinda/sorta implied the franchise had actually reached its final destination, the movie pulled down north of $180 million globally - thus more death -vs- beautiful young people hilarity quickly became assured.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here writing from the Highball as I wait for my 9pm movie at SXSW. Some news has come in and I wanted to make sure it went up as I catch up on SXSW reviews.
The biggest bit of news to hit is IGN's premiere of the teaser trailer for PREDATORS, directed by Nimrod Antal and produced by Robert Rodriguez. The presentation at Southby went swimmingly, I hear, and now you and I can see why that is.

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.
I know I said at one of the last screenings I did that I was going to be traveling a bunch and probably wouldn't have anything again for those in and around Chicago until well in to April. Well, I'm a dirty, dirty liar. I am still traveling, but I managed to squeeze in one critical screening next week. Coming off a rousing Butt Numb-a-Thon screening in December and triumphant SXSW Film Festival Opening Night slot last week, I'm ready to bring the awesomeness of KICK-ASS to Chicago.

New York Magazine's Vulture section has an interesting article regarding political posturing and shenanigans on GHOSTBUSTERS III.
To put the issues in its simplest terms, Sony seems to be horny for a younger, hipper director to make the movie - even though Ivan Reitman was believed to be returning as director. But...

L.A. Times has an interesting conversation with Bryan Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner about the past, present status, and future of the X-MEN film franchise. They're a few interesting points in the piece, including a coy allusion to Singer having recently met with Hugh Jackman about....something. WOLVERINE, maybe?

Merrick again...
Collider has posted images of an EXPENDABLES standee on display at ShowWest. Not as cool as the image seen below, but also a pretty wicked piece of art. Check it out HERE.

McKellen's website stealthily changed THE HOBBIT's start date from June to July. All other information appears to be more-or-less the same.

(Follow Me on Twitter!)
The following has been online for a day or two, but seems to not be getting too much notice - guess the concurrent madness of SXSW and ShoWest is pretty distracting at the moment. Still, this is an interesting (and potentially alarming) tidbit if true, so we thought we'd pass it along for your consideration.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I have a crazy busy day tomorrow and I need to grab some sleep, but I was caught off guard last night with the lifting of that Tron: Legacy Set Visit embargo (read the visit here), so I didn’t get around to writing up the world premiere of MACGRUBER, based on the SNL sketch that parodies MacGyver. I will make up for that now.
