A second draft of AUSTIN POWERS 3 was allegedly delivered to New Line this week, and according to sources, the greenlight has been given for the film to roll forward. One of our sources included a tidbit that could be a pretty big spoiler if true, so we've even made it invisible.

Tom Cruise may be making an appearance in the film as a decidedly Ethan Hunt-like character, helping Austin during the first act of the film. Cruise has already told Myers he'll play the role, which was written for him.

Word is Myers has written a major villain role here designed to be played by someone like Sean Connery, but there's no word as to whether Connery has even been contacted. That's just who they're thinking of, wishing for at the moment.

With the news having broken this week on Corona's Coming Attractions that Michael York just resigned to play Basil Exposition, sounds like things are moving quickly, and I wouldn't be surprised if AUSTIN POWERS 3 became a major part of New Line's 2002 summer line-up.
