Access Hollywood's peek at the new MUMMY RETURNS trailer
Greetings, trailer lovers! ROBOGEEK here, and boy howdy have I been in a digitizing frenzy lately!
Having TiVo'ed today's Access Hollywood to snag our first peek at the forthcoming Scooby Doo live-action apocalypse for Harry (look for more tomorrow), I happened upon the broadcast premiere (I think) of the new trailer for THE MUMMY RETURNS, which little pygmy mummies tell me won't get its official online debut until Friday.
Anyway, I figured you folks would probably appreciate a look-see at it sooner rather than later, so I had my trusty PowerBook digitize it for your desktop delight. You can download it by clicking on THIS LINK. (FYI, it's an 8MB 320x240 1:27 QuickTime file - with lots of new footage.)
My first reaction to this trailer was, "Gee, there sure is a lot of yelling!" Thankfully, however, Universal seems to have altogether dropped the pretense of this being a horror franchise anymore (compared to their 1999 MUMMY campaign) and is marketing this new film for what it apparently is: a rip-roaring action-adventure popcorn flick. Great. Still, I'd personally love to see some real honest-to-goodness horror... (ahem - HELLBOY! - ahem)
THE MUMMY RETURNS opens May 4, and will likely make piles. I just hope I like it better than the first one. (Click on that link to see what I mean.)
