Hey folks, Harry here.... Sony has just completed a junket out to Hawaii to the SQUARE ANIMATIONS FACILITIES to take a look at footage and the process of animation they are using in the creation of FINAL FANTASY. Now I was all set to go on this, till I found out that I was required to only talk about the trailer till February or so... and that was a scoop that we'd all see in a week anyway... so why the hell go? Oh I know, I'd get to see more from FINAL FANTASY... but then... I already have, and without signing any paper work.... and this was months ago. The animation is gorgeous. The product reels they show are highlights, action scenes.... things that... well, look really really good.... What I'm curious about.... what I hope to see in Suni's Ground Zero Column at Coming Attractions is something more than... it just looks cool and badass. What I'm curious about in the 15 minutes they screened for junket goers was there any character work? How are the dialogue scenes... the character interactions... the subtle animation work... Cause the problems I'm hearing Sony is having with Final Fantasy is that while gorgeous.... it seems to be a bit of a mess. The artwork is as good as any we have ever seen and even better. But the character work is lacking.... that the inbetween action moments don't work all that well... and that is why they have been having script rewrites all along. I'm hoping that we see answers to some of these types of questions, because from the footage I've seen... and the snippets that Sony has released at FinalFantasy.Com we already know it's beautiful and cool looking. There has to be more.... or does there?
