Hey there all you hooligans, Harry here with a notice of just whereabouts you can find that dang diggity look it might be cool, HIGHLANDER: ENDGAME trailer. Ya know, at ShoWest this year, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the energy and flair that their presentation was on this HIGHLANDER film. It looked far better than the second or third films, which I believe it acknowledges as not having happened. (Now if only they'd pull the same trick with the last two ALIEN films) Now the film is being helmed by a first time director, Douglas Aarniokoski, but... he's been apprenticing under Terry Gilliam (on FEAR & LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS), Robert Rodriguez (FROM DUSK TILL DAWN and THE FACULTY) and Jay Roach (on AUSTIN POWERS: MAN OF MYSTERY). I know Doug and while not being like a drinking bud or something, I have watched him on set for hours. He struck me as being a bit of a perfectionist (not a bad thing) and very business like on set. But he was also very personable and good to the actors he was working with. HOWEVER, none of that really talks about him as a director. Is he any good? Only seeing this film will tell that. I remember when he told me he was going to direct this, my only real response was to tell him to not pay attention to HIGHLANDER 2 or 3 and to watch the list of about 15 greatest swordfighting scenes in film history, as well as Jackie Chan and Gene Kelly films to really get his choreography down on those fight scenes. I'm sorry, but the Highlander films have always been Sword Fighting Fetish flicks and besides the first one... they have all failed. The longer (by a lot) trailer at ShoWest really hinted to some of this... I'm hoping that it is intact here.
