Hey folks. Capone in Chicago here. I promised you more and here it is. The exclusive Ain't It Cool News Chicago-area screening of APPALOOSA, starring Viggo Mortensen, Jeremy Irons, Renee Zellweger, and Ed Harris, who also directs one of the most interesting and unique westerns I have ever seen. I mentioned yesterday that there were some films I was going to bring to Chicago that you just needed to trust me on; this is one of those films. I worked tirelessly with Warner Bros. to make this happen and to make it a screening only for AICN readers, which means no getting there hours early or getting turned away. If you win this contest, you get in as long as you show up on time.

APPALOOSA will screen Wednesday, October 1 at 8:00 pm at a downtown Chicago location. Only the winners of this contest will be informed of all the screening details. Do not enter this contest if there's even a slight chance you can't come. If you have a job that might force you to drop your plans to come to this screening, do not enter. If your wife or husband is eight-and-a-half months pregnant, do not enter. If you are under 18, do not enter. You can get your folks to enter for you, but you can't enter. Because if you win, and don't show up, I'll sick Harris and Mortensen on your ass, and trust me, you don't want that. And please remember that Oct. 1 is the date of the Cubs first playoff game. If that's going to be an issue, don't enter. Otherwise, enter early and often!

Here's how to win. Send me an email at capone@aintitcoolmail.com with the subject line: "AIN'T IT LOOSA". In the body of the email, I need your name, whether or not you are bringing a guest, and name of a kick-ass Western that goes above and beyond the genre. I'm looking for titles that don't feel like conventional Westerns. Maybe it's a film I've never heard of; perhaps it's a classic that finally made you appreciate the genre fully. Limit your entries to 50 words of justification/begging for your choice. If you go over or otherwise stray from the rules, I'm tossing the entry right in the spittoon. I'd really love to pack the house with true fans of the Western; I know you're out there. Or maybe you're just starting to discover how great they are.
