As if to underscore its increasing similarities to “Survivor,” this season’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge, launching tonight, is titled “The Island.”
Twenty people viewers met on prior MTV shows battle one another to win money – money that may spare them from competing with younger and increasingly numerous “Real World” cast members for precious bar-tour bookings.
No Coral, no Beth, no bullying C.T., no fat guy from Fresh Meat. “The Island” features no one introduced prior to 2002 (only eight of the 20 were introduced before 2006), so don’t expect appearances by Lars, Kat or Neil from 1995’s London cast either.
