Hey, everyone.

Sorry. The last few days have been a flurry of meetings and script pages and interviews and FEAR ITSELF with some friends. It’s a blur, but now I’m looking forward to Monday night’s PINEAPPLE EXPRESS screening. I feel like I’m the last person at AICN to see the movie, so it’ll be nice to see it with a full crowd of readers who are as ready to enjoy it as I am.

The “General List” and “My New Best Friends” are made up of all the people who wrote in, in order. No favoritism there... it’s just that some of you made the extra effort to stand out, and I wanted to salute you right back. If your name is not on those two lists, then check that “Standby List.” If you’re on that list, I’d say there’s a good chance you will still get in because people cancel. People don’t show. It’s a fact when you’re booking these screenings… you know that some of the people who are supposed to show up simply won’t, and if you’re willing to come to the theater for the stand-by line, I’d wager you’ll have a real shot at getting a seat in that last ten minutes before showtime.

If you find your name on the list, but you can’t make it, PLEASE LET ME KNOW VIA E-MAIL! I will take you off the list and move someone up, making room for more people on the stand-by list. There are still about another 500 people who weren’t able to get onto ANY of these lists, and I’d love to make room for as many of them as possible. WE HAVE ALREADY UPDATED THE LIST SINCE POSTING IT, SO KEEP CHECKING IN TO SEE IF YOUR NAME SHOWS UP!

If your name IS on the following list, then I expect to see you at the Arclight in Sherman Oaks on Monday night. And pay attention... that’s the Sherman Oaks location, not the Hollywood location. You know... the one that used to be the mall in FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH, but which is now pretty much completely rebuilt. It’s a shame... when I moved here, it was still recognizably the same place that was used for FAST TIMES and CHOPPING MALL and T2, and I had a real fondness for it as a result. I’m just happy now, though, to have an Arclight location that is somewhat convenient for those of us who live in the Valley. The movie starts at 7:00 (although we’ll be on stoner time, so expect 7:10 or so, most likely), and at 6:50, we’ll open all remaining seats to the people in the stand-by line. Please be sure to give yourself time to get there by about 6:40 so we can get everyone inside and get started. If you tried to bribe me in your e-mail, I’m sure it worked, and I look forward to remembering nothing about Tuesday through Sunday of next week.

Right now, there are no plans for special guests, but we are in LA, so let’s see if we can wrangle anyone to stop by and say howdy. It’s a 458 seat theater, so this is gonna be a whooooooooole lotta geeks in one place. I’m really sorry if your name didn’t make the list. The response to this was pretty huge, and I tried to make room for as many of you as possible. It’s going to be nice to put the summer to bed with the last of the titles I was waiting for, and a good opportunity to say “high” to a whole bunch of new faces at this screening, including:
