Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Wes Craven's career has been filled with ups and downs. He can go from flicks like LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, filled with true horror that grabs you by the guts and doesn't let go to, say, bug-fuck ridiculous cornball horror like DEADLY FRIEND and SHOCKER. Let's hope this next one is of the former.

25/8 is set up at Rogue and will feature a "signature villain" who shows up 15 years after he supposedly died to kill seven children born the night he was to have died. Craven calls it more of a thriller than a slasher, but I hope that just means serious instead of SCREAM.

I really hope they go the extra mile and cast real youngsters in the movie. I can't tell you how much I'd like to see a horror movie set around real young kids instead of 20somethings playing young teens.

The same Variety article mentions Rogue now has the rights to remake George Romero's THE CRAZIES and that Breck Eisner will helm.
