Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love hearing what films the National Film Registry pick to put in their vault. Maybe it's the post-apocalyptic film fanatic in me, but the idea that there are 475 films now in a vault somewhere that could survive all of us just gets me going.

The latest 25 were announced and will be preserved forever... after the aliens wipe us all out, they'll find these films and know how we were as a race of animal.

Yay for BACK TO THE FUTURE and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS making the list. I love Lumet's 12 ANGRY MEN and John Ford's THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE is the film that got me into westerns as a teenager. Well, westerns that weren't super gory (ie from Peckinpah or Leone).
