Okay... this is the fun of browsing the mailbox some mornings. You get these weird pairings and groupings of headlines. Highs and lows back to back. For example, when I opened this first story, then followed the link, I liked what I read... quite a bit. Go check it out, then come back:

See what I mean? If that’s accurate, that sounds like one hell of a great device around which to build the film. I’m loving the creative choices about The Joker so far. I may be an embittered fanboy, but I just don’t like the ’89 film, and I just don’t like that version of The Joker.

And I’m not the kind of person who thinks that every single thing needs to be “dark” to be good. I just think that The Joker is a very particular character. And my personal favorite interpretation is the scary insane Joker. I don’t think he should ever be the sort of funny that actually makes the audience laugh. I think the Joker should be the only one laughing at his jokes. I think everyone else should be nauseous. That’s the interpretation I’m hoping for, and it sounds like that’s what Nolan has in mind... a frightening sociopath. Fingers crossed and recrossed and crossed again.

So I read that and I’m all excited and pleased and can’t wait to see that. And then I read this next story and...

... two words: buzz kill.

Nice catch by the team at IESB on that review. That draft was turned in on Halloween, on the pre-strike deadline. That’s hot off the presses, so to speak.

I just can’t imagine LAND OF THE LOST being anything but an ungodly nightmare, though. I’m afraid to even follow the link.
