For you LA readers, here's a heads up on a Laszlo Kovacs memorial screening of PAPER MOON at the Egyptian!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. When we ran an obit for brilliant cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs a little while back, I was surprised to see one of his daughters appear in the talkback to thank the readers for their well-wishes and positive comments on her father's work.
Now she's set up a free memorial screening of one of her father's best looking films, PAPER MOON, at the American Cinematheque in LA, the beautiful Egyptian Theater. If I was in Los Angeles, you better believe I'd be there to help celebrate the life and work of one of the industry's great DPs. Be sure to click on the link below for more information on the screening!
Hello,
My name is Nadia Kovacs, one of Laszlo Kovacs daughters.
I am putting together a free memorial screening of Paper Moon at the Egyptian theater September 12th at 7:30.
We're screening a rare, never before seen print of the film, the last version that my father worked on. In addition to the screening, there will be a few guest speakers, including Peter Bogdanovich and Garrett Smith from Paramount.
The screening is free admission, and it's geared to film students and aspiring filmmakers. I was hoping you could put up a blurb on your site to help get the word out.
The theater seats 616 people, so there's plenty of room for lots of people!
Thank you!
-Nadia
