Several sites are now reporting that Jackie Earle Haley is confirmed as Rorschach for Zack Snyder’s WATCHMEN, but I think that had already been fairly well-established a few weeks ago.

The real casting news this week is all about Ozymandias and Laurie. Fairly important roles. And it looks like both IESB.com and Latino Review have broken individual parts of this story:

I think Matthew Goode is a damn fine choice for the role of Ozymandias. If you saw him in both MATCH POINT and THE LOOKOUT, you know already that this guy is a chameleon and charaismatic, able to play affable and charming just as readily as he can play sociopathic.

And Laurie Juspeczyk is reportedly being played by... Malin Akerman? Well, she’s already appeared in films like THE INVASION and THE HEARTBREAK KID, and she’s cute, and she was fairly hot on ENTOURAGE. And now... she’s Laurie. The “new” Silk Spectre. Girlfriend to the glowing blue Dr. Manhattan (reportedly being played now by Billy Crudup, in case you missed it) and daughter of the original Silk Spectre.

It’s a hell of a role, and I really don’t know what I think of Akerman playing it. I know Zack Syder’s turning his budget into an asset, saying it will force him to be more creative. I just hope this cast he’s putting together is able to really step up and fill these iconic roles.
