This is one of those long-rumored projects that I hope happens. I adore TRAINSPOTTING, and I think if Boyle was able to put the cast back together for a sequel now, the results could be fascinating.

I caught Irvine Welsh at a party in Atlanta for the paperback release of his new book, "Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs." It was pretty hilarious or disgusting, depending on your point of view.

Anyway. Someone asked about upcoming films based on his books and he had this answer that included Trainspotting sequel news.

"I'm kind of very excited.

One is being filmed right now. It's called "Ecstasy." It's a Canadian guy called Rob Heyden who is filming that. They actually ran out of money and they are going to raise more money now to shoot the rest of it. They're just starting up the production again, so they hope to have that finished by the summer.

"Filth" has just been sold to a guy in Hollywood who wants to make it in Spring of next year (2008).

Danny Boyle and Andrew Macdonald who did Trainspotting have been back on a bit about "Porno" and they are determined that they are doing that in the next 18 months.

It's like busses. You never get one for ages and then three come along at once.

And I'm doing a lot of film stuff myself. I've got a couple of film production companies. We are doing stuff that's not related to the books. We hope to have a film out on British TV called "Wedding Belles" and we hope to have that come to the states next year."
