Seems Disney is out to bring the graphic novel THE SURROGATES to the screen. Jonathan Mostow (U-571 and TERMINATOR 3) will direct. The project will reteam him with T3 scripters John Brancato and Michael Ferris.

SURROGATES set in a futuristic world in which people live in isolation, and interact via robotic surrogates (an allegory for the Internet?).

Wasn't a similar premise used for an episode of SEAQUEST? I don't remember the plot exactly, but I seem to remember the sub going to a land where everyone is plugged into on-line gaming & interact virtually instead of actually.
