I am – Hercules!!

Columbia has reportedly locked up a new Adam Sandler comedy about a Mossad agent who fakes his own death so he can become a New York hairdresser.

Wow, that sounds like a bad movie! But it’s not going to be, and here’s why. The script was written by these three guys, all of whom come out of beautiful TV:

1) Judd Apatow, “Larry Sanders” vet who masterminded “Freaks and Geeks” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.”

2) Robert Smigel, “SNL” and “Conan O’Brien” vet who created “The Ambiguously Gay Duo” and voices Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

3) Adam Sandler, “SNL” vet who co-wrote “Billy Madison,” “Happy Gilmore” and “Big Daddy.”

The story in The Hollywood Reporter suggests that Apatow also did some uncredited work with Sandler on “The Wedding Singer,” which is news to me!
