Because We Need Another Inspirational Football Movie!! Here comes THE EXPRESS!!
Merrick again...
Dennis Quaid will star as the man who coached Ernie Davis -- the first black player to win the Heisman Trophy. Davis has yet to be cast. The film will be directed by Gary Fleder, a veteran television director (HOMICIDE, FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON, THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD, KISS THE GIRLS).
Charles Leavitt ("Blood Diamond") wrote the latest draft of the script.
...says the Hollywood Reporter article HERE.
THE EXPRESS joins other inspirational football movies like the recent INVINCIBLE and the forthcoming WE ARE MARSHALL. I think it's about time for a really depressing football movie...equal time and all.
