Harry here, with Red and his gigantic report on THE SPECIALS. It’s that other goofy group of superheroes movie that’s coming out this year. From how Rojo describes this, it sounds pretty fun, I bet the set was a blast to be on. I’d love to get pictures of some of the characters in costume. It certainly won’t be on the budget scale that MYSTERY MEN is, but for a goofy lackluster group of superheroes... well a budget doesn’t need to be gigantic.

How about cast ?

Rob Lowe, Thomas Hayden Church, Paget Brewster, Kelly Coffield, Judy Greer, Jamie Kennedy, Jordan Ladd are probably the names you'd know.

The writer and his brother are also part of the cast there are 11 main characters, and a cameo, Mellisa Joan Hart, There is also a character that was not cast but they are looking for a name for a cameo that they will shoot in Jan.

The script is pretty funny and it's basically a story about one day in the life of these dysfunctional super heroes.

Their group, "The Specials" is third or so on the totem pole of the super hero groups out there and they are finally going to be rewarded with their own action figures ( which is how the groups measure their worth)

We start off being introduced to the members as they begin their day and head to their headquarters to meet and discuss that evenings awards ceremony.

As the day rolls on you get a pretty good look into each of their characters and when they are at the banquet and the action figures are revealed they get totally screwed. The figures are totally fucked up, with huge boobs for the girls and a black character for one of the guys, and one action figure has Richard Dawson's head( because the toy company had left overs from the 70"s)

Everyone that was cast fits their part perfectly. Rob Lowe is the Weevil, Thomas is The Strobe, he is married to Ms. Indestructible -Paget Brewster, The Strobes brother is Minute Man ( James Gunn the writer), they started the Specials,Jordan Ladd is Nightbrid the newest member of the group who joins that very day, US Bill- Mike Schwartz, Power Chick (who's gay)-Kelly Coffield and her side kick is Alien Orphan( Sean Gunn the writers brother) Judy Greer-Deadly Girl, Jamie Kennedy-Amok and Mr. Smart-Jim Zulevic ( Second City) rounds out the 11 main heroes.

I think it's going to be a hysterical film it was hard sometimes to keep from busting out laughing during tapes and Thomas with his deliveries, he’s so fucking funny anyways.
