Rest In Peace Wicked Wilson Pickett
Hey folks. Quint here with another obit for the year 2006. I love music, but I am in no way a music aficionado. I grew up listening to classic rock and oldies, so I was exposed to Mr. Pickett's work at a young age. I never really went any deeper into his catelogue than what always played on the radio... Mustang Sally, Land of 1000 Dances, 634-5789, Funky Broadway, In The Midnight Hour, etc. I know for me his presence will be missed, but his voice will always be there. My thoughts are will his family, friends and fans.
He didn't wait 'til the midnight hour. We've lost a legend... -- Murrow

Veteran singer dies
NEW YORK (AP) - Veteran soul singer Wilson Pickett has died.
His agent says he suffered a heart attack at a hospital near his
home in Virginia. He was 64.
He was known as "Wicked Pickett" for his unique singing style
as well as his intensity both on and off the stage. And he is
considered one who helped shape modern rhythm and blues.
Pickett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in
1991.
Two of his hits, "Mustang Sally" and "In the Midnight Hour"
were included in a "Rolling Stone" list of the greatest 500 songs
of all time.
