Sterling look at Clooney's GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK!!!

Hey folks, Harry here with the latest look at GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK from our friend in San Francisco. Missed the Esquire pan of AICN, damn, bet that was a laugh. This is one of my most hotly anticipated films of the fall. A film about a media giant with the backbone to stand up against a corrupt and evil Republican plot is something to take note of. Not that it's happening today, oh perish the thought.

Hello, Harry.

Big fan of the site, even if Esquire did pan you last month. :) I was lucky enough to attend the premier of George Clooney's latest project "Good Night and Good Luck" last Friday where he also stars alongside David Stathairn, Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bridges, and Patricia Clarkson. The film is shot in gorgeous black and white and follows the battle between Edward R. Murrow and Senator McCarthy during the 1950's. The film opened the Lincoln Film Society's 43rd Annual New York Film Festival. There was a dinner at the Lincoln Center where we saw the actors (Patricia Clarkson smiled at my wife's dress :) and heard a short speech by Clooney, thanking his father who was a newsman and applauding the courage of the real life reporters who stood up against McCarthyism, a couple of who are still living and were also at the dinner.

The premier was preceded by a short film from the Netherlands called Stop! By Mathijs Geijskes which was very funny and well done with a series of movie scene within a scene events (director calls cut, camera pans back scene continues, another director calls cut and we pan back further to see it's still shooting, and so on…) Imaginative and a cute speech afterwards. Clooney then took the stage and introduced the cast (Bridges and Downey were absent). The film was brilliant. Courageous and well acted by Stathairn who will be getting nominations for sure. Funny at times but always intense, the film is important work. With that being said I'm sure it will do poorly at the box office; no explosions, no nudity, nothing for the average American. The Kent cigarette ad was particularly funny, especially since it was a real ad, and the chain smoking going on screen made the cigarette smoke a character of its own.

Afterwards was a party at the Tavern on the Green. The cast and a handful of celebrities were there and Diane Reeves performed a song from the soundtrack. Good times.

The highlight of the night was seeing my wife stand next to Rachel Weisz and realize that my wife is more beautiful.
