Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some pics from the first true sequel to one of my favorite cheese-ball obscure '80s horror flicks, SLEEPAWAY CAMP. If you haven't seen it, by all means seek it out. You'll think it's just a regular FRIDAY THE 13TH rip-off (and you wouldn't be 100% wrong in that thinking, either), but then around the beginning of the 3rd act it starts to turn on you in some really fucked up ways. Not a film that's propelled by scares, but by cursing kids, inventive gore and one of the most fucked up endings ever.

A couple years ago I helped get the filmmakers together with Tim League at the Alamo Drafthouse for a special screening of this cult classic and I heard then from director Robert Hiltzik that a true sequel to the original SLEEPAWAY CAMP with him at the helm and a few of the main cast returning was in the works. That was a couple years ago and now it's here.

The pics look exactly as I expected them to. Cheesy, over-the-top and bloody. And what the fuck is Isaac Hayes doing in there?!? Wearing his Chef colors, no less. And Big Pussy's there, too! Weird! I hope this one lives up to the original... I know we'll be seeing Angela again... the real Angela, Felissa Rose, not Pamela Springsteen like in the shitty SLEEPAWAY CAMP sequels. Forgive me for going nuts on this. If you're a fan of the original, you'll understand. I'm pulling for a screening of the film in the near future.
