My Favorite Marstian is tuning in to the 90's
Wow, this really strikes my old Geek Gong! Father Geek is telling you all that I never missed a single show in this old TV series from my youth. I hope the feature rocks and it doesn't turn out to be just another "Flubber". Man, I ate the original series up..
Hey Harry,
How's foggy old London, eh? Anyway, it's me Peter Proud aka Alligator
Benny writing in for another scoop...this time about Disney's Easter '99
biggie My Favorite Martian. I trust that you'll help me cover my
identity as a Mouse House employee in your own way but here goes...
Uncle Martian Christopher Lloyd was decided long ago as was Liz Hurley,
but Jeff Daniels was never a factor until talks with younger actors like
Matthew Perry and Tom Everett Scott bogged down. Director Stephen Herek
then called upon his leading man in "101 Dalmatians" to take on the role
described as an "up and coming, dashing young news reporter," well, with
all respects to Jeff, he ain't young anymore,
The came the decision to retool the film into an F/X heavy event picture
and the producers brought in Phil Tippet and Co. and they came up with
the idea of a character named 'Zoot. 'Zoot is an intelligent space suit
who is this mischeivous element who always manages to get Uncle Martian
into trouble with the earthlings and thereby making the audiences laugh
in the process. He's the silver colored suit poring laundry detergent
into a wine glass as briefly shown in the teaser in theaters. From what
I've seen, the movie is going to be hyped like a comedy, f/x heavey
event film not unlike Jim Carrey's "The Mask."
