The 70's Show pilot review

Well I've seen a couple of trailers for this, and thought it might be pretty funny, but up until now, I hadn't heard any 'buzz' about it. Hopefully we'll be getting screeners of a lot of these TV pilots so we can give y'all all an advance look at this stuff. So enough of me and onto Chaka Khan...

I haven't seen in reviews on television shows, so I figure I would just write one up and see what you think. It's on the 70's show.

First off let’s just say that I work for a Fox TV station and that this is a Fox show. I view all show’s that come out on Fox with a great air of skepticism in order for me to judge how well the show will do. Sure I would love it if all Fox’s shows were immediate #1 hits. As we can see the only show that was a hit that premiered last fall was Alley McBeal.

Well I worked all day and really wanted to go see a movie last night, but my movie partner, my wife, would not be able to go with me. We have a 3 week old rugrat. I had already taped the pilot’s and I figured, what the hell, I should go ahead and watch them. There are only 2 theaters in town, and the only movies that I really wanted to watch were at the one that I was boycotting. Well the show that I will talk about here is the 70’s show (on the pilot it’s called the 70’s project). I had heard a bit about this show and was really ticked that it disrupted my Sunday nights. So already I was praying for this show to fail. I mean, come-on. Who is going to want to bridge the Simpson’s-the 70’s Show-The X-files. Well, I will. I loved the show. It had nothing to do with either of it’s Sunday night partners but I just couldn’t stop laughing. Other people at my station already told me it was going to be the hit of the fall, but I just laughed at them. Now, my only apprehension about this show is that there is such a different audience (in my mind) for each of these Sunday night shows. I could be wrong though. It will appeal to anyone that has gone through high-school. Hell, I started High-school in 1990 and I still saw a lot of my life in it. The story focuses around a guy and a girl that have grown up as neighbors since they were around 4. I think that the show will mostly revolve around us wanting them to have a romantic relationship. (can we say X-files and wonder years… wow those are 2 shows I never thought I would say together) They have a weird assortment of messed up friends, but hey… didn’t we all. The show will take you back to some of your first experiences in High-school, in a humorous way.

I watched 3 other pilot’s and I enjoyed 2 of them and hated 1, but this was the one that I plan on watching on a regular bases… hell… it’s on the main night that I watch Fox… but damnit… I have to watch Tuesday night’s as well now.. oh well.
