Shelbygirl

I am – Hercules!!

Colin Hanks! Paris Hilton! The first new “O.C.” since the fabulous Anna Stern left way back on March 3. And “Shelbygirl” is in looooooove. (Too bad she didn’t enter Coax’s “OC” contest; she could have met the man of her dreams that much sooner!)

"Shelbygirl" says:

I have to say that I had been waiting with anticipation for this episode. There was an excellent feature on the series mastermind Josh Schwartz in the New York Times (online) this weekend, which just made me want to see the episode even more.... And leads me to want to marry this man. We love the same movies, the same T.V. shows...And he loves to write...

Ahem. Sorry. This episode didn't disappoint, in fact this one had me laughing out loud more than once!

What does Fox.com say?

The kids make their way to a hot L.A. nightclub and a famous actress has her eyes on Seth?

Since when is Paris Hilton a famous actress?

When we all downloaded her sex video...Come on, you know you watched it.

Alright, so where are we?

The episode starts right where we left off, at the motel The Mermaid. Seems that Ryan has left his watch behind. Seth has accompanied him, and guess who they catch? Julie and Luke, of course!

That's not good.

Not for Luke, in any case. Ryan decides that Luke needs to end it.

And what are the girls doing?

Summer and Marisa find Grady Bridges (Colin Hanks) on the beach because "I'm dating a girl from Newport..." Summer fauns, and before you can say "groupie", they've been invited to L.A. for his birthday party.

And the adults?

Jimmy Cooper proves he really is bad with money, and reveals that the Lighthouse is broke. Kirsten suggests using Julie to the designing in The Lighthouse, causing Jimmy to freak. But then she goes on to suggest that Caleb should be brought in as a silent partner, causing Sandy to freak.

The "previously on The O.C." shows the backstory of Hailey. What is she up to?

It is revealed through a letter that she is an aerobics instructor at a Club Med...Or is she?

What's good?

All of it. The stunt casting, for one. Paris (as butt-ugly as I think she is) was used well! Grady was a wonderful parody of a teen TV star, and did become "The T.V. Seth Cohen." Parody was rampant, and no one was safe. "I didn't know that strippers actually did coke right there in L.A." "The town will steal your soul." Ryan and Seth as "partners". Ryan smiling, lots and lots. The tease of "angst-free Ryan week." Jimmy vs. Julie. Ryan _doesn't_ punch anyone! "Maybe they just spoon and watch Charlie Rose." Making the Golden Girls younger and hotter. Mocking the possible behind the scenes romances of teen dramas. This is just the tip of the iceberg. This is such a great episode.

What's not good?

Spoilers reveal that a beloved character on this show will be leaving at the end of the season...And seeing as that I am not one who is "in the know" beyond what I can find on the Net, IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!! Who is leaving? We've already lost Anna, why, why do we need to lose another one. I even like Luke now...WHY?!?!?!?!?!

How does it end, spoiler-girl?

"I've got to go..." And two boys are left looking forlorn out the door.
