PROJECT GREENLIGHT 1.4!! Talk Back!!
|
I am – Hercules!!
“Project Greeenlight” is some kind of great TV!
One hopes Miramax recouped “Stolen Summer’s” production budget with what HBO gave it to air “Project Greenlight.” If not, one has to be that much more admiring of Miramax’s willingness to shed such harsh light on one of its own releases.
“Stolen’s" first day of shooting looked like a train wreck, and made my brain swell with questions:
* Is Pete Jones a real filmmaker, or merely the best salesmen of the contest’s three finalists?
* Could Jones possibly be as poorly prepared as he looks tonight?
* Was the script for “Stolen Summer” the best of the ten finalists, or just the one Miramax realized it could realistically make most cheaply?
* Why is a development executive overseeing the production for the studio?
* Did aspiring screenwriters vote for “Stolen Summer” and the other finalists because they were certain their own scripts could outclass them?
* Why am I filled with incredulity and loathing every time Miramax vice president of production Jon Gordon opens his mouth?
* Has anybody seen Matt Damon?
Finally, don’t forget that “Greenlight” (perhaps the finest reality series ever forged) moves to 9:30 p.m. next Sunday to make room for new episodes of “Oz” at 10 p.m.
I am – Hercules!!
