Lexx is cool!

Well, I lied. I can take or leave Lexx, especially because it seems to have less to do with plot than general atmosphere. Anyway, I saw there were no talkbacks yet, so I posted. I hope some enthusiastic Lexx fans post.

I don't know why.. and to be honest.. I dont really care. I sent in a review of the series close to 2 months ago when I got a sneak peak.. If you are a fan of the first series of movies (chapters titles 'Tales of a Parallel Universe', and had LOTS of stars), and the next two actual Seasons.. then you may or may NOT like whats happening now. Personally.. I Disliked the 3rd season, and HATE the 4th season. Its just the same activities wrapped around a really bad story line. My suggestion was to get the DVD's and avoid this 4th season like the plague unless you were willing to watch some REALLY bad (Im talking Black Scorpion bad) TV.

Transylvania. I still watch this buggy program but it's going downhill even faster than it did in season 3. I think this season will take a stake in the old heart.

After being an avid fan for the first 3 seasons, I just can't watch LEXX any more. Bringing the show to Earth was a very BAD idea and they totally ruined the show. It is just so stupid now I can't bare to watch it. I'd like to get a big can of RAID and put LEXX out of its misery.

Lexx on Earth: bad idea!

Bringing the Lexx universe to earth was a bad idea. The first two full seasons (not the mini series) were great and last year's season was amazingly surreal. But season 4 (3, if one doesn't count the miniseries as a season) is not really good up to now. I love seeing the characters again but watching them on earth simply doesn't work. I hope halfway through the season, everyone will wake up and pretend all the earthly action was just a collective bad dream. Please.
Lexx out of control?

I have mixed feelings about Lexx. The pilot "I Worship His Shadow" was simply wonderful, even though the lovely Miss Seeberg was absent. Just the right level of absurdity. Then I picked up when they got to Fire and Water, and stayed, and stayed, and stayed.... I finally couldn't take it any longer and quit watching. I started back when they reached Earth, but the absurdity had just spiralled out of control by then. Once I saw that the controls of the space shuttle resembled those of a pickup truck ("Good. What is a truck?") I realized what they were doing, and kind of bought into the whole thing for a while, but I think by then it was too late. I admire the show for doing its own thing, but I think from now on I'll pass.

Lexx is such a refreshing and off the wall view of Sci-Fi! I'm a little tired of the stale pabblum that Star Trek has been feeding us all these years...and Lexx is the spicy cure! Stanley is the everyman - weak, cowardly, and horny as Hell! & it's Kai damnit! what's this Kye crap?!!? KAI! I like the fact that this show is so freaking weird that most people don't know what to make of it ... go ahead, turn the channel and watch The Enterprise tangle with those pesky Klingons and Spacial Anomalies - again & again & again ... boring! Oh! & for the record, there's only been Two Xevs...one was Zev Bellringer (Eva Habermann) and Xev Bellringer (Xenia Seeberg) - But the character I really wanna see returned is Lyekka (Louise ischermann) ... I can't believe they killed her! Again! She'll be back this season! Whoo!
I was worried that getting to Earth was a bad idea....

And it sounds like it was.Ive been a fan of the show since watchin a German language version of it's pilot movie on Satelite tv several years ago.The first four movies were great. The first full series was hit and miss but had some great stuff.Season 3 was a bit slow but actually got the show closer to its sex and religion in space roots..and didn't try to be too funny. It also had some wonderfully whimsical scenes in the balloons above the water planet etc{parts actually looked and felt more like Final Fantasies games than the movie did}.Now we have season 4 , and I had a bad feeling on hearing about it.It sounds like its drifted way wayy too far from its early Barberella'esque stuff..Can anyone who's watched all the series tell me...is the latest stuff as bad as the Hillbilly bunch on the ship episode of season two? Or is it worse or what.?

Despite the 4th seasons ups (that little kid thumping on the ground hee hee) and downs (Xevivor), I was seriously going to come on here and defend the show, but after Trematodes depressingly adolesent and obsessive post...I'm with the rest of you guys, THIS SEASON BLOWS!!!!!!! despite the three or four Xevs, the undead assassin Kye, and the plant lady, Taboolie. Personally I think he's just disturbed that you guys are picking on the girl he wacks off to every week :)

Who pissed in your corn-flakes this morning lad? Sheesh! take some light-hearted fanship why don'tcha ... no need for personal attacks. Watch Lexx or don't!...but do the latter and miss out on some wacky fun! But you seem like the kind who likes drab and bland shows so ... spread your anti-Lexx rhetoric on the Enterprise talk-back would you please? In the words of Kai, "Insults do not affect the Dead".

This series is brilliant! Apparently though, Newfoundland is behind the U.S. if they only have seen the first three 4th season episodes. Then again, th writer of this review should enjothe epwe had last week where Newfoundland got nuked after a visit from the Lexx crew and Stanley's doppelganger. Of particular note was the jam session of the fight song of the Brunnen-G that Kai started.

I started watching this crap this summer when SCI FI moved Outerlimits and my VCR taped a couple episodes. First, being a big sci-fi/genre fan, I must say simply this show is smelly dung and reeks of Euro-trash worshipping. That blonde chick is hot but damnit, kill everyone else off!

...LEXX at its worst is more entertaining that 95% of the crap out there. Except for the overly-long Brunnen-G fight song jam, which was done thoroughly to DEATH. And that's from someone who has the MP3 of the Space Opera People singing it! But other than that, I'll take full-on "WTF? Xevivor?!?!" over "Make phasers ready Mr. Sulu" for the umpteenth time ANY day. And for the record, I thought the 'Fire and Water' storyline was some of the best, most imaginative TV I've ever seen. It was science fiction/fantasy at its most fantastic. That is all. EEyo -way-rah, jeroom Brunnen-G! [sic]

Hmm, interesting how many people are disappointed in this season. I found episodes 4.02 - 4.04 to be some of their best episodes yet, and most of the ones that followed were decent. I watched the first half of series 3 but got bored with it. Anyway, just thought I'd post an opposing view...
Lexx in US ahead of Canada for now

OK, let's set things straight here... For the first time, Lexx is airing in the U.S. before Canada and the UK, although the Canucks will catch up in a couple of months when SciFi goes into their three month fall repeat run. This current season consists of 24 episodes (Season three was 13, Season Two was 20 and the initial season was the four TV movies) which will take them up to 65 episodes. It was also co-produced by SciFi, so it appears that alternate takes were done so that there aren't the obviously censored scenes with this season (i.e. women running around with blurry chests). However, unless the ratings pick up, this will most likely be the last series of Lexx. Lee Whiteside www.sftv.org

I felt compelled to respond to all the folks who are saying this season is the worst, or that LEXX coming to Earth was a bad idea. I'm responding as someone who was largely unaware of LEXX until they started airing it after Farscape about 6 or 8 weeks ago. So this season is pretty much all I know about the place. I didn't really know who any of these characters were - but it was easy enough to pick up. And I cannot compare this season to previous ones. What is clear to me is that LEXX is a refleshingly insane universe... My point is, this season (that so many of you are bashing) has got me thinking "Yeah - I want to see all the previous episodes" and all of the subsequent ones too. So maybe the previous eps or seasons or TV movies or whatever were better than the current crop. I would humbly submit that the current season doesn't suck. I'm finding it quite entertaining. Is it possible that they intentionally ST4'd the Lexx crew to Earth to coincide with the schedule change, dumbing it down a bit to draw in folks like me? Farscape fans, no less? If so, that was pretty clever of them. - Mac PS. Totally off topic...On both Farscape and Lexx tonight, I noticed what I assume was some awful blue-screen work...it was quite obvious to me - the actors were superimposed over the blue screen images with that outline effect...has it always been that bad?

I'm not going to argue with Lexx's legion of detractors--after all, half my friends hate the show. Like I care about those losers. Lexx is an acquired taste for many, and those who "get it" are being rewarded with a fan-fucking-tastic season with the warped crew of the big bug! For those saying the visit to Earth is a bad idea, I think it's a great idea (and not really different in tone than many great earlier episodes--go back and watch "Lyekka," for instance). The spoof/satire of the United States has been wild and wacky (my home state of Texas was a bit stereotyped, but who cares, they had some fun with it). And the government they depict is definitely headed toward a totalitarian regime that harks right back to that run by His Divine Shadow. Everyone's in rare form, especially Brian Downey as Stan. He is truly amazing. Kai gets all the great "dead" lines, and Xev is always curvelicious and playful. Another fun note the writers have hit has been to play up 790's jealous schemings to the point where he is actually trying to kill everyone except his true love, Kai (it's a really long story). We've had the return of some cool characters from earlier seasons, such as Bunny (in the hilarious Canadian episode) and Fifi, in the Xevivor episode. My name is Dan and I am a Lexx addict... And this season is the best yet!
Why Season 4 does not suck
by Kai_BrunnenG

Season 4 has not gotten away from Lexx's Barbarella-esque storytelling, it's still just as wacky and unpredictable as always, just set in a very familiar place (more or less;the geography of Lexx's earth might be the same, but everything else is too off-the-wall to be familiar). I also like the way they put new spins on our earthly stories. Did you know Dracula was a Divine super-assassin from the Cluster, and female? And Stan's the new Renfield. I'm glad their revisiting the Divine Order plotline. Anyway, I'm surprised anyone who didn't like Lexx even bothered reading this review. You people must be really bored. Why read a review of something you already hate? I don't get it. If I saw a review of "Titanic" or "Save the Last Dance" headlined on AICN I wouldn't go near it. For those of you who don't know what Lexx is, give it a try. You might like it. Also, those of you who stopped watching the 3rd season missed something special. Turns out Fire and Water was actually Heaven and Hell, both of which ended up being destroyed by the Lexx. How can you resist a show that destroys the entire after-life?

Glad to hear there IS a 4th Season. I loved Lexx until the last series, which I rather assume used a limited number of sets and fx to save Candian $$$. If the new series is set on Earth, it sounds like this may also be a motive here. The Sci Fi Channel here showed the other series' here in the UK, the 3rd season before North America, as I recall, so I hope it shows up here in the Autumn (aka Fall). P.S. I'm afraid that for me, Lexx wasn't really ever as "must-see" after Eva Habermann left. Anyhow, I'll stick with it until the end; if I could watch every episode of "Voyager" for 7 years, I can put up with a whole lot of "downs" for afew memorable "ups"! - Scott

The four part mini series, AKA "Tale From A Parallel Universe" had great humor, excitement and casting. After the departure of Eva Braverman, the writing and plots took a nose dive. I mean, c'mon, hillbillies living in the Lexx? That was first season "Lost In Space" crap. It has consistantly sunk deeper into one of the most anal, banal and most foul bowels of writing and execution cesspool since "Version 2". The only thng decent in V2 was the Mantrid plotlines, which weren't enouogh to sustain the whole season. "Fire And Water"? Pathetic, boring tripe. And now the Lexx comes to Earth? GAG! Nigel Bennett deserves better.

Wow ...I never thought that I'd see a Farscape fan admit to liking Lexx. For some reason Up till now Farscape fans seem to fear Lexx as some sort of rival.Anyway it's nice to hear that the show hasn't strayed from it's roots after all.And as for the comment on the bad Composite work{Blue/ green screen} I'm surprised to hear that Farscapes Fx are getting that obvious{Im not a fan of the show , but I do admire how slick it all is} Lexx on the other hand , has always been an odd mix of truly cool FX work..and really below par stuff, almost Blakes 7 in some places. In a way that *rough edged* look adds a bit of cult appeal and charm.

I have watched the past 3 seasons of Lexx. Now the Fire and Ice season got old, but all in all I enjoy it! Its just so totally different from any other sci-fi, and its really funny. Its geared for adults, I find myself saying, damn how'd they get THAT on there, hehehe. I can't believe we have to wait 2 weeks for part two of Fridays episode, GRRRRR! Kai breaking outta the Iron Madien and kickin ass ruled.

I would feel soo much better if.. after season 3, that Stanley had actually LEARNED something from his death. Why he couldnt have realized every action has its consequences.. but NOooooo.. its the same old anal retentive addle brained crap every time. Stanley only wanting to do what Stanley wants, Stanley only worrying about Stanleys safety.. blah blah blah. What makes a story interesting is seeing progress WITHIN a character.. not the same dialouge and plot complications in a new setting every season :( . I wanted more from season 4.. but I think what made me the most sick to my stomach is just how INCREDIBLY STUPID everyone is. Well.. that and the gas peddle/gear shift combo for 'driving' the space shuttle [sigh]
