Man, if only Arnold would have picked this up instead of Jet Li, not that it doesnt look bad ass, but still....wasnt Arnie rumored to play this part? Oh well, I still need to see Kiss of The dragon. Pray for Collateral Damage....anyone who posts "FIRST!" will recieve 7 years bad luck

Saw it today attached to POTA, it looked to be the one US movie Jet's fan should be happy about. Can't wait to see it.

It's a shame we are stuck with Keanu "Woah" Reeves. Jet Li IS the one, damn it!

I am in simple awe of this man. I have been for years. I hope this film takes him one step closer the being the #1 action star in the world. And if you havent already, get up off your ass and see Kiss of the Dragon. Keep up the great work Li!

the rock dodged a bullet indeed! if youre going to film crap at least make sure it has the potential to make money, like the scorpion king. jet will figure that out eventually. or maybe he'll make kiss of the dragon 2.

Look, back in 94'-95' when Jet got new management, he made his "no period kung fu" rule (which he only broke once) and started with all this modern action and sci fi crud like Dr Wai, Hitman, and Black Mask, and you know what?, he hasnt made a truely great film since he imposed that rule. I honestly think he cant pick material, and the man made better films when he was under the thumb of the HK studios. He certainly hasnt made a good film in his US career, his past three films have been dreadful. The One looks like a flat gimmack film, and isnt that impressive. Sure, some of you Kiss of the Dragon, Romeo Must Die lovers may flock to go see it, but I can already tell its going to be weak. I'll just watch Jet pole fight Donnie Yen in Once Upon a Time in China 2 the weekend The One comes out.
This is what we saw at San Diego....

and it still looks good. Yeah, yeah, maybe just maybe Jet should have done Matrix 2-3 - but I think he's doin' the smart thing and starting HIS own legacy, not going the franchise route that is dependent on OTHER names (be it Reeves, Fishburne, Waschowski). He's trying to pave his own way. And he should. Besides he would have gotten something like 3 mil for the two sequels?! Say what?
I guess Jet Li has taken Van Damme's place in all the cheeseball

I swear to God, Jet Li deserves better than this. I can just imagine the marketing meeting for this one "Okay, we'll take a little of Time Cop, a little of the Matrix, and a lot of Jet Li. Box office gold!!"
looks pretty good to me...

Kung Fu Cult Master? Yuck. The only real problem with Kiss of the Dragon was the horrid editing and filming of the fight scenes. Had those been done more clearly, KOD would have been one of Jet's best. And remember, he was going to do CTHD until his wife got preggers.
Yes, the EXACT same trailer with the Rock would suck...

But it wouldn't be the same movie if he had did it. It was tailored for the Rock and then re-tailored of Li when he came aboard. So, it still could have been kick ass with The Rock, we'll never know. (Why I am staning up for the Rock I have no idea....)

No, this trailer does not kick serious ass. I'm a fan of Li's earlier stuff--Fist of Legend is unbelievable. But his American stuff has been very, very weak. And I'm not trying to be racist here, but does anyone else think that Jet sounds like a wimp when he speaks English? Something about his delivery, and the distinct "r" sound of his Beijing accent. I dunno, but it still bothers me. I know a lot of people from Beijing, and none of their accents sound so sissy.
The One ...other movie to attempt to cash in on 'The Matrix'

After viewing this trailer before 'Planet of the Apes', I said aloud, "Gee, that sure looks familiar." ...Just about everyone around me agreed. It was a vertible check list of 'Matrix' wanna-be effects: Bullet-time, freeze-frame, slo-mo, jump cuts, noir lighting, CGI-enhancement, kung-fu, dark sets, black-leather, sci-fi action. ...I've seen it already.
Seems like a weird take on "Highlander".

The worst actor ever. Bullet time is getting really old, really fast. This guy simply has no marketability outside of our little film geek world. Romeo Must Die, Kiss of the Dragon...these movies did not blow me away. Jackie Chan is successful because he doesn't need wires to do a cool-looking scene, and more importantly, doesn't take himself so seriously. Li is falling into the Seigal, Van Damme trap of REALLY believing he is a badass. On the contrary, Van Damme prefers men and Seigal has man-tits. This trailer showed before POTA and was almost as lousy.

Critical Bill -- not Highlander... Eternal Champion

This is a weird take on Michael Moorcock's theory of the Multiverse and Eternal Champion. Moorcock postulated that with infinite universes all intersecting at crucial points among themselves, there came times when a hero emerged -- not in just one universe (such as a highlander, or Superman, or whatever) - but across multiple universe. And that champion shared the strength of its multiple instances to become far more powerful in the universe it was needed in than any single-universed creature could. Or something like that. Moorcock always gives me a headache when I read him. Anyway... this movie espouses the Multiverse fairly well, but presupposes that there is a lump sum of energy and power spread out across all identical entities... and as evil Jet kills each one of his alternates, his piece of that pie becomes proportionally larger. Metaphysically, its a lot more intriguing than the simple "From the dawn of time we have existed, moving through the centuries to the time of the gathering, when the few who remain will fight to the last for the prize. In the end, there can be only one." (cue Queen)

This movie looks like complete cheese. Kiss of the Dragon was cool, but the plot for this movie just looks stoopid. Jet Li is insane for passing on the Matrix to be in this big block o' cheddar.

I initially thought the premise of "The One" kinda hokey but the trailer changed my mind. Sure it's cheesy at times, but it looks really fun. I dare say its 'wire-fu' done right. Oh BTW Mel Garga, Jet Li has more talent in his little toe-nail than Seagal and Van Damme combined. Jet may be a complete gentleman in real life who has never been in a fight, but I'd doubt if you'd want to be at the receiving end of those reflexes. And its ridiculous to postulate he has no marketability outside 'our little film geek world'. For every close-minded person like yourself there's 1000 Jet fans in Asia. I should also add that Jet is Badass because the fans WANT him to be badass - he's quite capable of comedy (FSY, Hitman etc) but he shines best in the intense killer mode.
