Better than Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels

I am a big fan of Lock, Stock... but Snatch is a superior film in so many ways. I really don't understand why the critics (mostly in the U.K.) consider it just a rehash of the prior film. Sure it's about the underworld and it's done in a similar narative style, but that's where the similarities end. It's a completely different story with completely different characters and the acting and comic timing is brilliant. Brad Pitt in my opinion is a great actor (just compare Kalifornia to Snatch) and has the ability to take you from comedy to pain in an instant. This film in my opinion is one of the must see films of the last 10 years. Check it out.
Actually my favorite line from the making of...

...is when Brad Pitt (I think, it's been a while) is complaining about the size of his trailer and says that Amnesty International were picketing, having declared it "unfit for human habitation". TO MATT: You can't find the video because it's not out yet. This is a preview of the DVD which should be released in a week or two. Take it from someone who moves a lot: get a multi-region DVD player.

Lock stock is a tighter film. Snatch has a bit too many holes and unnecessary naration. And Turkish seems to be just a parady of Bacon.

Don't know if it'll make it onto the US version, but the UK DVD had a couple of cool "hidden" menu options accessed by moving the cursor off the menus. There were 4 or 5 altogether. One was Doug the Head's ringtone for nokia phones, another was a hilarious montage of every single swear word in the film, a complete list of the on-screen fines, and another one that i can't remember. Funny stuff!

It's another Brad Pitt movie that ain't great. Except 12 monkeys, the rest of his stuff sux. It's all girly crap that I don't care for. So bery this at the bottom of the barrel and as for Mr. Maddonna, He's overrated. He's a terantino wanna-be!!

First off, the film surely is available on video, at least in New York City. I rented it last night.*** I enjoyed the film. Sure, it's another fractured-narrative heist caper, but it was FUN. My question is this: Does Ritchie have an outsize ego to match his outsize characters? (I've read no interviews, and I don't have a DVD player, so I can't get a look at his personality that way.) *** Yes, some problems, but so does Pulp Fiction, which so very many seem to put on a pedestal. *** Anyway, I enjoyed the film quite a bit. 'Twasn't deep, but 'twas fun. Like a jigsaw puzzle vs. a chess match, perhaps. *** As for racism, well, I noticed that too, particularly the fumbling blacks. Then, what the hell was del Toro's character sposed to be? Jewish? Huh? Nu? That would be... miscasting. Of course, he's great, but... well... odd casting. Anyway, on the racism--I'm not sure if it's a problem or not. It seems to me it was done with a knowing wink. Is British culture not as sensitive to this? If an American director had made this film, there would have been an outcry (at least from Spike Lee). *** Should I see Lock, Stock now? The board seems to be divided... *** Peace! --kyle
