I need the Fire Walk With Me Platinum edition...now. Plus, I'd kill for some cutscenes on that baby. Where is Twin Peaks the series on DVD anyway? I hear Lost Highway is coming and that's excellent news. By the way, isn't Mulholland Drive premiering at the Cannes FIlm Festival or did I make that up in my head? It's happened before. Lynch rules!!!! This is a formica table; green is its color......
Hey! I thought this movie already came out in 1996: It was calle

i hate when i randomly hit enter for no reason whatsoever. anyway, i hear you on the Wild at Heart DVD. my VHS copy is so crappy its ridiculous. i've seen straight to video garbage with better picture quality. hey, i remember reading awhile back about the rumored new Twin Peaks movie (which we've all heard about), but the cool thing that got mentioned was that Lost Highway takes place in the Twin Peaks universe. how crazy is that? and i'm glad Mulholland Drive is coming out in the theaters as opposed to being butchered for television. man, its been a long time coming, i read an article in premiere about it what seems like years ago.

Mr. Parker, you're FIRST and all you can say is, "When is something else coming out? What about the news that spawned the chat in the first place?... This is very exciting for us Lynch fans. It's also a painful sign of things to come with regards to network television. If anyone has the license to get weird on TV, it's Lynch, but ABC chooses to squelch any possibility of something new for couch potatos board with Party of Friends shit. Here's an idea ABCDisney, a Lynch inspired version of "Who the fuck wants to watch some asshole be a millionaire". Better yet, go head to severed head with CBS with a Lynch inspired, nightmarish version of "Survivor". Let two groups of people try to survive in a dark place concocted by Lynch. I'd watch that... By the way, "The Straight Story" is top notch Lynch, despite it's G rating.

Im sorry about the non-related post. Im going crazy trying to find info about this release, and Im asking everywhere I think people might know. Relating back to the article, Im sorry to see the TV series die, as I would much prefer to enter a David Lynch universe once a week. The ultimate would be for HBO or Showtime to pick up a David Lynch series so that we could have it unrated. Oh well...
I Interview David Lynch....

"Hey, Dave, ya gettin' any?" "You're darn tootin' I am, Buzz. Of course, with the amount of coffee I drink, I have prostrate problems." "Sounds like a bitch. So you're turning MULHOLLAND DRIVE into a movie. They'll buy it in Europe where they don't know any better, but what about stateside?" "Heck if I know." "I read that thing in the NEW YORKER about this. It sounds like your usual post-PEAKS blend of film noir and mystic mumbo jumbo. Would that be accurate?" "Right-a-rooney, Buzzmeister. Say, would you like a Bob's Big Boy shake with your coffee?" "How do you get the old thick kind in the silver goblet? They quiet making those." "Beats the shit out of me. I order 'em and they bring 'em. I have one every day, after my paper route." "You know, you're a well respected director. You can stop that paper route any time." "I see a lot of strange things on paper route. It's through the woods." "I'll bet you do, Dave. I'll bet you do." "I also get a lot of ideas while sitting in a chair." "Who doesn't?" "Do you ever drink just water, Buzz? It's good and good for you."
It's all sorted

This is all old news. PATHE list the film as a late 2001 release, the film is already being 'added to' and recut, as we speak. PATHE are handling press duties, too, and can supply much more back up.

Maybe it was just a language thing, but methinks Dider isn't the best interviewer. I like listening to Lynch, though. Spin doesn't come naturally to him. He thinks like a true artist--abstractly. I like how he thinks of stories "talking" to him. I think he's on to something there. When you let your subconscious pour out into a story, then I think there's an underlying meaning that you can continuously draw from and amaze yourself with the results. That's how Twin Peaks worked. It had a crazy logic to it that actually points to some nice universal meanings--but at the same time they admit that they were all "making it up as they went along." They drew from the original story framework, and it spoke to them and told them how to continue it.

What puzzles me is that a little over a year ago Lynch said in Movieline that he had given up on the project. He said that he couldnt envision it being a stand alone film because the way the pilot was, open ended, like a "body without a head", with all these open possibilities of where the story and characters could go. i guess he changed his mind. He did shoot new material to close the story up and is brave enough to put it in snooty European critical bloodbath that is Cannes. i cant help but think it may be a minor work because it has gone so far from what he originally intended it to be, but i cant wait to see it just the same. i just hope the critics are kind and realize that the guy did the best he could to wrap up a project that was never intended to be a stand alone work, and appreciate it on that level, that the guy is ressurecting something that was dead.

Lynch and DVD

It is doubtful that Lynch will ever do an audio commentary on DVD, becasue he believes that the less said about a film, the better. He was hard pressed to talk about his films in Lynch on Lynch, and even then he did not go into great specifics about the stories. He doesnt even believe in chapters on DVD, as evidenced by his refusal to have them put on the Straight Story, becasue he believes films should be wathced as a whole, not in parts...As far as Wild At Heart and Twin Peaks, both dont have a release planned, especially Twin Peaks which is undergoing problems tracking down deleted scenes and getting the rights to include them. Lost Highway is tenatively planned to come out sometime at the end of this year, but it could be inevitably delayed. What we really need is Eraserhead and Industrial Symphony #1 on DVD.

I read the New Yorker article, and have combed the net for any information on Mullholland Drive. I really hope I'll get to see it one day. I'll be happy to see it, but I will also be a little disappointing that we won't be able to see it as it was originally intended, as an episodic series. Why doesn't Lynch partner up w/ HBO? They'd have the balls to air his show. I just don't understand why he'd go with ABC in the first place.
