sounds impressive. really does and with this one, theres is nothing really THAT contreversial that disney may get cold feet about and change. i am actually really impressed with the 'wont date her cause shes tall' story. though why is it always the girl always excepts ugly guy and everyones happy. why dont they ever have stories where i guy excepts an ugly girl?? im serious!! it is really rare for u to see an ugly girl to be with a good looking guy!!!! we're all pigs. baff

I was at the MGM Studio Park a week ago and I saw a few of the finished images from the film, ie they looked like stills from finished scenes. Lilo is a native Hawaiian, not a white kid like I'd expected, and it looked like they were trying for a modern setting. But the way they were drawing the characters actually made me think of more expressive designs in My Neighbor Totoro. Stitch is an unusual looking guy for Disney too, that person who said he resembled a blue coala bear was pretty close. He'll probably be compared to a Pokemon character by brainless animation-hating film critics. Ignore them! Of course, the story here sounds less subtle and more formulaic than most of Miyazaki's films,(didn't that Hulk Hogan movie from the early '90's have a similar plot) but the execution makes a difference. If the characters are real and endearing without depending on jeuvenile humor and slapstick, it might be a real charmer. I can see finally why the animators are all so excited about it. I hope they don't change the title like the tour guy said they might do. Also: I saw a production painting from Treasure Planet of a Pirate ship-shaped space ship(there's a tongue twister). It had an almost anime look with hundreds of spire sticking out of it to suggest incredible size and the huge alien symbols on its sale. Its orange color was really eye-catching next to the blue-ish starscape. Plus there were white manta-like alien creatures flying around it like sea-gulls. I hope that painting ends up in an Art of book because it was really a fantastic piece of work, even if there is no real need for wings or sails in space. In fact, I hope Disney is smart and releases separate detailed Art of books for Treasure Planet, Atlantis, *and* Lilo and Stitch.
