Sean Connery as Socrates?????

NOOOOOOOOo!!!! Socrates is not a scottish ham! The only person who can pull this off is Sir Anthony. Talkbackers, remember that great talkback we had in response to the "Gates of Fire", "Alexander the Great" biopic news? How I among others plead for a Socrates biopic? Well, I'm glad that someone is planning one but I do not think that Connery is the one to do it. Ok, he was good in "The Name of the Rose", but Socrates is a great speaker, there will be speechifying in this film guaranteed. Sir Anthony is made for this one.

Ang Lee directing "The Hulk"!!! It doesn't get much better than

There will be JUSTICE in the realms of Comic Book Cinema if Ang lee is given "The Hulk". This is the best news I've read since Christopher Lee signed on for "Star Wars Episode II"!! Picks for Bruce Banner: Johnny Depp, Jim Caveziel or if a bit older Bruce: Dennis Quaid, Ray Liotta or even Tom Hanks (they are other candidates but can't think of 'em now), I'm sure I'll be crucified by you freaks by my picks but I think they are quite the choice! And long-live "OLIVER STONE'S CAPTAIN AMERICA", problably the best talkback battle on AICN!!

Wonder Boys...

wow... those were two very different "In My Honest Opinion" pieces about Wonder Boys at the end there. but... they were both totally fuckin' warped. the first one complained that the film had no plot and seemed to want Wonder Boys to be some kind of full-length episode of Seinfeld ("that dead dog should've had repercussions... dammit!"), and the other one reduced the movie to a Michael Douglas shrine. umm... I think you're wrong on both accounts, boyos. Wonder Boys was magnificent primarily for its patience and willingness to hang out with these people-- there's not a whole lot of traditional character development because that's just not the picture's style. We get to know them as the movie goes on. Over after the first fifteen minutes!? What are you talking about!? No change!? And for those complaining that Tobey Maguire should stop playing virgins... well, I think this character was pretty much the penultimate virgin. Tobey topped every other role he's done before... sexually inexperienced or not. My biggest complaint with these two reviews is the fact that they refuse to simply inhabit the confines of THIS movie. Yeah, sure, Hollywood is a big place... but individual movies don't have to be. Wonder Boys effortlessly built a singular, atmospheric world, and should be experienced strictly on its own merits. It sounds to me like both of these reviewers are simply too wary and pathetically referential to allow themselves to truly live inside any given movie for 2 hours. Well... anyway... that's what I think. Seeya later.
Ang Lee will probably make a great Hulk film

Especially if he minimizes the CGI like he did in Croutching Tiger. I will stand my ground and say the technology isn't there yet for a full-blow CGI character. Especially human ones. As for Hayter, I think he really loves comics, but he was the last rewriter on the X-Men, and I heard he contributed only a few key scenes, but they were some of the great moments. I won't shed a tear if Lee rewrites the story, since he said he wanted to make an action film that was characterization heavy.
Of Course David Hayter's Script Probably Won't Be The Final One

Sigh. Anybody who has ever read a fucking magazine article about filmmaking for Chrissakes knows that more often than not, the guy whose name is listed under "written by" probably didn't write one word of the script. The credit is often a very bad WGA decision. David Hayter didn't have any more to do with THE X-MEN screenplay than the half dozen other screenwriters who didn't get credit. From what I've read (which I don't necessarily believe) Bryan Singer and the producer De Santo or something were the most responsible for what's filmed. Nothing against Hayter, it might as well be him as anybody else involved getting all this work but the fools who hire him shouldn't be surprised when it's not X-MEN shooting script quality right away. Kind of like the guy credited with SPEED who got all these deals but Joss Whedlon probably wrote far more of what we saw than he did. Also, why does this site accept a review of WONDER BOYS from somebody who starts out talking about magna and has a Katie Holmes fixation? The guy's either obviously a kid or a case of arrested development (nothing wrong with either, but that makes him NOT the right reviewer for WONDER BOYS.)
The Reason That Oliver Stone's CAPTAIN AMERICA Could Actually Ha

Knowing Oliver, which I don't, he could come-to on the set, behind the camera, start directing a Cap movie and think that he'd planned it all along. "Oh, yeah, Oliver, you've been mulling over this project for years. Now, here's a Dos Equis in case you start to have flashbacks."

I'm going to disagree with the poster that thinks full-blown CGI characters are still undoable. It's hard, and it's expensive, but it's certainly been done. My favorite example is Sebulba from EP I. Yes, Jar Jar sucked and was animated badly, but Sebulba was gorgeous (speaking strictly from the standpoint of judging the animation). Now, would the hulk work? That would be tough. I doubt they would do him entirely in CG. But I'm sure that a combination of animitronics and CG could work. There are certain scenes that would absolutely have to be done in CG, including any kind of battle scenes. Just no big guys in rubber suits please. The hulk needs to be impossibly large, and an actor in a suit wouldn't be big enough.

Definitely the best superhero story I've ever read in comics. Fantastic idea! It's great to find someone who shares the same vision. It would be expensive as hell, but Kingdom Come would make a fucking PERFECT movie...if the demographic knew who the hell 85% of the characters were...wishful thinking, though. I would want to collaborate with ya just to make sure it gets done right...

Ang Lee proves to be a very irresponsible author if he tackles the HULK mythology. After such a flop as CTHD how can you let this guy direct such a precious project. If McTiernan wasn`t good enough for the studio and Ang Lee becomes good enough - I`ll boycot all of their releases in the fuutre... Ang Lee will lose all of his credibility if he accepts this offer. Ang Lee himself claims he is not a fanatic. I mean we had doubts about Raimi doing SPIDERMAN and now people are taking this Taiwanese hack for granted. He will take a new approach? Studio will take him because he will settle to make HULK for 2,5 million with no effects in the manner of his Jane Austen pics...Ang Lee and HULK...I can`t believe this!!!Order must be restored in Hollywood... I can`t wait to see the movie about Hacienda and the great days of raving Madchester. Too bad Winterbottom is directing because I hate this guy, both as director and as a person...His movies are lame TV dramas in my view... As a Serb I can`t live with his disgraceful WELCOME TO SARAJEVO... Danny Boyle should have directed this one. He is a born Mancunian and he always wanted to make a movie about Joy Division/ New Order days.
