More importantly, did someone actually have the vision to dedicate part of an American commercial building to a French sci-fi/fantasy artist? Cool!
Woo-hoo indeed!

I remember reading the INKAL books when i was a teen. That completely turned my comic-book-reading world upside down! Moebius is a true master of the art, and he draws a mean Silver Surfer too! (I finallaly got my damned poster framed a few years back) NUXX OUT.
Moebius has already done an anime

We should not forget Les Maitres du Temps, an animation movie by Rene Laloux, based on Moebius (real name Jean Giraud) artwork. It is a truly beautiful movie and a great story (1982 I think).

I had the opportunity to watch Cyberworld at the 3D IMAX theatre in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, (the kind of thing where you put the polarised goggles on) and the computer animated Moebius section is truly mind-blowing - as he mentions in the article, lets hope they manage to convert the whole of 'Thru the Moebius Strip' into true 3D for an awe-inspiring totally immersive experience! Coooel!

If you're reading this then you are surely in the Moebius demographic. I'm stoked about this news, and this news has definitely hit all the right ears. I love the Moebius influence, the way it has trickled all over the place, like in Geoff Darrow's stuff, the Matrix, and what have you. I agree with NUXX and I'll also say that, taken on its own, the Stan Lee/Moebius Silver Surfer GN was maybe the best stand-alone Marvel comic of the last however-many years.
American Moebius releases...

Marvel released the 'Incal' series in graphic novel almost ten years ago. It's the story that inspired Jean Luc Besson to write 'the Fifth Element' years before the films production. It's still pretty easy to find. And much better than the movie. And the film mentioned earlier, done with Renee Laloux (Fantastic Planet dir.) has just been re-released on video and is very easy to find. It's called 'Time Masters'. And it's alright. It's better than the "Heavy Metal Movie" rip-off sequence. Moebius IS the greatest living comic artist, if not artist period, in my opinion. Try to find his illustrations and designs for the dead Dune film he and Jodoworsky were set to do in the 70's. Beautiful stuff. I think the website's called Duneprime.com or something like that. PANIC LATER!!
Moebius DID work on The Fifth Element

Moebius was one of several designers to work on the movie, including Jacques Rey and Mezieres... He doesn't receive main credit because he didn't do the primary work.

To answer Wesley's question, the Airtight Garage at the Metreon is a gorgeous game center and bar. The architecture is pure Moebius, and there are murals of his paintings and sculptures based on his drawings. Picture a "Moebius Ride" at Disneyland to imagine the set design. There's a sculpture of a small spaceship crashing through a wall. There's a multi-user video game that I believe uses his character designs, as well as a fun Virtual Bowling game, and a couple of those Japanese Dance Machines. There's also a souvenier shop where you can buy his books and t-shirts, etc. It's really a very pretty place, like actually being inside one of his drawings. VERY cool!

This actually IS on topic - Moebius is concept artist on Rendesvous with Rama! Dark Horizons just confirmed that it's finally going ahead with Fincher directing, Freeman starring, and ALL 3-D animated! That just Rawks!

Iben Hjejle would be a perfect Laureline. She already played the role (kind of, anyway) in 'Mifune'. Let's see her jumping in and out of the space-time-continuum in a tight-fitting shining spacesuit.
Thanks, Wintersteel.
