There was absolutely nothing that made me want to see that film except the title. Show us some Spidey!!! A 4 year old with a bunch of spiderman comics could of came up with that teaser.

unless of course, you count just how pointless that teaser was. but i wasn't expecting much. at least they didn't do it like that god awful hannibal teaser. they would have had to of shown some stock footage from the old tv pilot with the guy from the infamous brady bunch episode that held such halmark phrases as "something suddenly came up" and "oh! my nose!" also, implying that spider man got his ass kicked by that pussy charlie. hmph! some super hero he was! although if they wanted a teaser to get everyone around here in a fluster of rabid excitement and debates, they would have to simply add to lines after the title. the first: "now with organic webshooters." and second: "just kidding". that would get everyone excited.

They have to use the Ramones version of Spider-Man, especially for the next teaser trailer(with footage from the film). Because it would work so well since teaser trailers only lets the audience know that a certain film is coming out. It could play over the entire trailer. It has a wicked beat, plus EVERYONE knows it. From the youngest kid to the oldest adult. and woulld definetly get us pumped for the film. Cuz It's such a popular song. IT HAS TO BE USED........please.

The opening sequence to the film!!(mind you, this is just wishful thinking) But think about it! You put opening credits with the Danny Elfman score and that's pretty much it. That's all I think this teaser is good for. Don't get me wrong, I'm pysched, but the problem I have is the fact that with them mentioning things like 'next year' and 'most anticipated motion picture event of 2001', I'm immediately reminded that this teaser is a good six or seven months old, and that I have to wait a year and a half to see this film!! The finished product is bound to be done by the end of next year, and we'll still have to wait five to six months! That, and the fact that it's going up against 'you know what'. Even if the film gets critical acclaim, it'll be the box office that determines whether the studio will persue a sequel. Look at me, talking about sequels and the movie hasn't even started filming. Well, a guy can dream right?!

That was crap! Music obviously the Matrix, voice over said it was gonna be the most eagerly waited film of 2001 when thats obviously not true and there was no footage! then again it's interesting to see that theres some good directors got their hands on some good material out there and i thought Raimi was gonna be given some more time to craft something rather than have the execs rushing him to get something out for late next year when it's really gonna be at a disadvantage anyway. If there hoping to take what the X-men did too the next level they need to give Raimi time to build on the details and make it something more than a cinematic bigmac.
I believe it's not a "teaser" teaser.

It's what was shown at ShoWest this year, and the French Premiere site got a hold of it. I've seen stills from this ages ago. Still, it's boring as hell...It reminds me of a ripoff of the Batman logo from the intro W/ THE ELFMAN SCORE to Burton's Batman movie. Tell me I'm wrong.

it says RIGHT ON THE PAGE that it is the ShoWest trailer! you don't have to understand French to realize this. previews use music from other productions all the time as TEMP TRACKS. how many times have you heard "Edward Scissorhands" over some other trailer? like in..."The Nightmare Before Christmas?" "The Secret Garden?" Yeah.
Why do you all want footage so bad?

Is it so you can find fault with the most minute things, like you're doing with this one? The music is bad, the costume is bad, the dialogue is bad... I thought the "teaser" was effective. This footage was shown at ShoWest as a way to get theatre owners excited about the movie, not geekboys. As someone said, the French managed to snag a copy and put it online. I personally like it, it does what it's supposeds to, wet the appetite. I for one, think the sound effects for the webs are pretty damn cool.

... that this was the ShoWest trailer that was developed around the time that the deal went through with Sony. I'm pretty sure that Sam Raimi hadn't even signed anything when this industry teaser was being made (note the lack of ANY credits whatsoever or even a "2001" or "coming soon"). Keeping in mind how much is generally changed in comics-to-movie translations, I think it was bold for them to include webs at all in the teaser. They could've just shown panels of the early Lee and Ditko stuff, which would still screw them cuz the script timeline is different. In other words, just enjoy the damn webs and sound effects, cuz YOU WEREN'T ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO SEE THIS.

I am really looking forward to this movie, but that was a pitiful teaser. Trailers "borrow" music from other movies all the time (I lost count how many times I heard the Alien3 music over other trailers), but Matrix and Spiderman have the same audience. And there is a Matrix sequel coming out! That is like putting the music from Star Wars before a teaser for a Star Trek movie. They should have used music from a movie that we wouldn't notice...like West Side Story or The Horse Wisperer.

I can't believe the teaser actually makes that claim. I think it's safe to say that LOTR is the most anticipated motion picture of 2001. The second installment of the film from which this teaser borrowed its music is probably second - that or Harry Potter. The nerve!

What exactly was the point of that trailer? The movie is years away (yes, I said years. The writers and actors strike will fuck this up like you won't believe), and this "trailer" is just some Hollywood geek jacking off while thinking "I'm making a SPIDER-MAN trailer! I'll be the envy of all my friends who can only fantasize about being part of this movie!" Guess what, Buckwheat? THAT'S ALL THIS IS! We don't even have a freakin' cast yet. This reminds me of the teaser they did for the Star Wars Special Edition (aka George Lucas' Love Affair With Digital Editing). The movie wasn't rereleased until 1997, but I remember seeing a teaser in 1994. Ditto for Titan AE. They put a teaser in the trailer reel at the premiere of Phantom Meanace. In both cases, it served no purpose than to piss people off. "Hell's bells, I gott wait HOW LONG to see this. C'mon, Martha, I think there a new Martin Lawrence masterpiece in Cinema 5." I could see this being necessary 20, 10, or even 5 years ago, because the dissemination of entertainment information was still limited to TV shows and movie trailers. However, this is 2000, almost 2001. the fact that you're reading this now means that you get your entertainment information from the Internet. "The Matrix" and "Blair Witch" proved that you can create a shitload of buzz about a movie using the Net as your primary outlet. Even though it is Marvel's second-biggest franchise, "Spider-Man" has always had the feel (to me, at least) of a down-to-earth, low-profile, low-hype comic. An Internet advertising campaign, especially one "written and maintained by Peter Parker" is the perfect way to promote this film. What's more, geeks like us will know about things long before they can release a trailer with any meaningful visuals. We'll drag our non-geeky friends and signifigant others to see this film, and we'll have another "X-Men" level of success. Did the teaser look good? Well, yeah, I guess. Was it worth the 5 minutes it took me to download it? Not really. Was it worth the 20 minutes it took me to write this diatribe? HELL NO!

So what if it was Matrix music. There was a mix of Matrix and something else...not sure what the second mix was. Almost all movie Teasers and most Trailers use Music from other films. Remeber how much the Aliens score was used back in the early ninety's and how much Crimson Tide was used. ID4 even used Crimson Tide in its Trailors. Whats the big deal?

Of course there's no footage, IT HASN'T STARTED FILMING YET. Of course the music is from another movie, IT HASN'T BEEN COMPOSED YET. The music thing is a common practice, every notice the Aliens song is in 50% of the action movie trailers made since then? Nobody complained about recycling in the Gladiator preview. It's as effective as a teaser is supposed to be. Joe Public will now understand there is a movie called Spiderman coming out.

VV, I appreciate skepticism and pessismism as much as the next guy, since 90% of the time in stuff like this the pessimists are right, but you honestly think Sony hasn't thought about the strikes? Raimi has a solid script (okay, that's rumor, but probably accurate rumor), and the actors' strike isn't until late June/early July. They start filming in February, if I remember correctly, and if they can't get all they need by that date, I'm Jack Womack. It might be a rush job...but so was "X-Men." As for Spidey V. Star Wars...nah. Don't worry about it. Plenty of breathing room. Spidey is two-three weeks away at least from SW, which has Memorial Day staked out. Besides, after suffering through Phantom Menace once, does anybody, aside from Warsies and dumb little kids, want to see the next one?

.......bastards. And what's with the tool who claims "Lord of the Rings" is the most anticipated flick of 2001? Is that really true? HELL NO! You think the average asshole on the street knows what "The Lord of the Rings" is? SHIT NO! No one reads anymore people, pull your dumb fucking heads out of your rancid cracks and come to terms with society. Now, maybe it's the most anticipated flick of the year to people WHO POST AT THIS SITE! (Not me mind you, I'm waiting for the trailer which MARK MY WORDS WILL MAKE OR BREAK "LORD OF THE RINGS". IT WILL NOT GET BY ON NAME RECOGNITION ALONE!) I'm looking forward to "Spider-Man" Now there's a flick every Joe Dickhead in America will recognize. "Spider-Man" will be shown on more screens across America than fucking "Lord of the Rings" ever will. Know why? THe Average Fuck knows who "Spider-Man" is. He'll see the trailers and the TV spots and the posters and go, "HEY! I used to have one uh them thar comiky books when I was a youngin!" And then they'll mosy on over to the box-office and say, "Ah want one for that then thar Spida-fella!" and "Spider-Man" good or bad will be the smash hit of the summer. I have no faith in anything else that I've seen the previews for this year, nor do I think that next year is going to any kind of improvment over this past "YEAR OD SHIT CINEMA!!!!!" I'm gonna go see "Spider-Man" and possibly "Tomb Raider", because Angelina Jolie in those short ass shorts, blowing people away left and right has spank value like you wouldn't believe. (It all starts in this cave where I'm a renowned archeologist and I've been kidnapped and tied up, but even bound in ropes and beaten, I'm still very studly. Then Laura/Angelina breaks in and has ripped her top, darn it! She says: "If I untie you, professor, could you help me cover my huge, glistening breasts?" Then we fight with a mystery army of ninjas and nazis, kill them all and have wild a wild jungle fuck on the altar of whatever the cave we're in. I don't see "Lord of the Rings" providing that kind of incentive to whack away one's supply of Vaseline. I see that flick as the kind of movie no one will get, the trilogy will never happen and it will bomb quietly and be remembered alongside "DUNE" as the reason why we don't make big-budget adaptions of sci-fi/fantasy trilogies that are already so entrenched in fanboy memory, that no one even stands a chance of getting it right.) Anyhow, "Spider-Man" will hit big, "Lord of the Rings" will go over everyone's head, who hasn't read the books and people will ignore it, no matter how good it is. I don't know a lot, but I do know that flicks like "Con Air" and "Austic Powers 2" and "Double Jeaprody" and "Patch Adams" and "The Grinch" become huge fucking hits, while great flicks like "Fight Club" and "Almost Famous" and "High Fidelity" and "American Psycho" (and pretty much any flick that requires a modicum of thinking on the behalf of the audience.) BOMB LIKE HIROSHIMA!!!!!
