Right on. Now lets just hope Ritchie doesn't fall into the Tarantino mold of only being able to churn out quality crime flicks...
lock, stock, and two smoking tarantinos

the only two things keeping ritchie from falling into the tarantino mold is: 1-the fact that he's been snuggling up comfortably in it since he made lock, stock, which was undeniably derivative of tarantino, and, 2-the brits are currently flooding their theaters with tarantino-like gangster flicks with ritchie being the only director to find any success in the states, so it ain't really just him who's so heavily influenced. but tarantino made two classic crime flicks (reservoir dogs and pulp fiction) before we started to doubt his infallibility, we should let ritchie do another before we jump on him. lock, stock was entertaining, well acted, well written (although it's no miller's crossing, which i think the script definetely owes a lot to, on purpose or not), and beautifully shot--basically good enough to get me in the theater for another one by this guy.

I've seen Snatch'd, it opened in Spain last week, and I liked it a lot... but in general, it's not better than 'Lock, Stock..'. I was very surprised when I saw 'Lock'... great pace, great dialogue, great action. But Snatch'd does little more than repeating the first one's formula: cast of crazy characters, good dialogue, great music, violence, etc. It's still a great film. Look specially for a great Rade Serbedzija, some great sequences with Vinny Jones and an unbelievably good Brad Pitt. And one note: if you've got a cool actor like Benicio del Toro, why waste him like that? He deserved a better part!!!
When does this movie open?

I haven't heard much about this outside of here on AICN, so I'm wondering what its release date is. I liked Lock, Stock, and most of my friends never saw it. Is Guy Ritchie still with Madonna? Think of the cool crap he could do if he got away from that black hole of attention.

A while ago Guy Ritchie said "Gladiator" had inspired him to do something antique or medieval. Can you imagine "Lock, Stock..." or "Snatch" set in medieval Europe? That should be fun, with or without Brad Pitt...
It's ok but not exactly original

I saw Snatch ages ago (being that I live in England)...and frankly I was disappointed. I loved Lock stock for its sheer balls and execution. But it seems to me that ritchie tried the same execution for snatch but failed to recreate it properly. To be fair there are genuinely funny "lol" scenes such as Farina's characters plane flight quick cuts...and no one can doubt pitts acting. However the moronic antics of the 3 hoods was unentertaining due to its cliched nature, and by the time statham starts REPEATING the same jokes (I know of two definite examples) you just look at the person next to you and say "what?!". so its not bad, but it ain't brilliant.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I loved "Snatch," but by the third time Statham brought up "ze Gerrrmans," the joke had gone quite stale. Definitely a case of "too much of a good thing." Still, "Snatch" is a fun ride, worth watching for Vinnie Jones intoning "bonjour!" alone. I look forward to seeing what Ritchie makes of a medieval "Snatch." I mean, Vinnie Jones as a medieval knight? I'm there...
hehe yep agreed

Yeah, Vinnie Jones. My personal opinion...he's not even close to being as good an actor as everyone is raving about including harry...it's like, being from England we've lived with this guy for years, and has he ever acted ANY differently ? even in real life? um, no. Now to be fair he's a top lad and quite a personality, so what the hell, stick him in all the films, and make him a billionaire...I too was very amused with the "bonjoouurr" and the whole Desert Eagle scene...top stuff.
Snatch rocks but...

..in my opinion, its not as good as Lock, stock... Pitt proves again that dispite taking a lot of stick, he is one of the best young actors around today. Its a lighter film than Loc, stock.. which for me made it slightly less enjoyable - LSATSB still managed to be funny while going through some pretty heavy stuff. Can't believe that you lot in America have still got to wait to see this - it makes a refreshing change!! Anyway, your in for a treat. Lets get leathered!!!!
