Christopher Lloyd

Ok, Jeremy Irons is certainly not a bad choice, and he's an Englishman to boot, but fer chrissake, Christopher Lloyd is the spitting image of Boris Karloff! I remember reading a review of BACK TO THE FUTURE in Twilight Zone Magazine back in the 1980s, and Gahan Wilson went off on how much Chris Lloyd reminded him of ol' Boris. Ever since, I can't look at the guy without pictuing him in the Frankenstein Monster makeup. It'd be an interesting acting stretch for him as well. Just a thought.
Um...Boris Karloff was English

Karloff, real name, William Henry Pratt, was born in London.

Yeah, I agree. Christopher Lloyd would make an excellent Karloff. However, I'm afriad that Hollywood is going to destroy this movie by either making it A) a buddy comedy or B) a story on how they were friends who were torn apart by 'evil fame'. If this turns out like "Gods And Monsters" or "Ed Wood", it should be worth it.
Really looks like

Scorcese!!! Wow. If they ever do a biopic on Scorcese, they would do well to contact Irons, tho he is a bit taller

Oh my God! That is too funny! It looks exactly like Scorcese. I almost spat my lunch out when I read that.

About Karloff Lorre and Price in the 60s while making the Raven and Comedy of terrors. That would be fun as they were by this time elderly and sending up their screen personnas. How about Christopher Lee as Karloff,Brad Dourif as Lorre and Geoffrey Rush as Price.

I know Karloff was an Englishman. I know he was born William Henry Pratt on November 23, 1887 (this info comes not from some sourcebook or imdb, but from the recesses of my puny little brain--I was obsessed w/ Boris as a kid). In fact, I mention in my original post that Irons is a strong choice, not least of all because he is British himself. Yet none of this means Chris Lloyd couldn't pull off the role. Lloyd wouldn't be the first Yankee to affect a foreign accent, and Karloff's voice was so distinctive, it almost wasn't like a traditional Brit accent anyway! Nationality should not be a deterent to perfect casting.

I completely read your post wrong and I apologize. I thought you were railing against Irons (one of my favorite actors) and in typical TalkBack fashion, I answered. Oops.
Uh oh. I wasted my 15 minutes of fame!

Shit! Hope it isn't all downhill from here . . . I made that pic as a goof and sent it to Harry - the Irons face is from Kafka - the Karloff still is from Devil's Island, I think. On the subject of Lugosi, a fellow Bela fan suggested Ralph Fiennes. If Ralph died his hair and put on 10-15 pounds, he's be really damn close . . .
I think my "E" just kicked back in looking at the picture...

I sent Harry a similar pic of Raplph Fiennes as Bela, so if you hassle him in talkback, maybe he make nicey nice and post it? Also - what's with the "I believe this is . . " I thought I told him exactly what it was when I sent it. No more speed reading! That's all. This movie could really be something to see.

If they did a Scorsese biopic, they'd have to get ILM to do his eyebrows. Surely to God those hairy outgrowths aren't real ?
THAT'S Jeremy Irons...

I think a flick with Ralph Fiennes and Jeremy Irons has potential, at least on the art house circuit. Here's a quick and dirty Ralph Fiennes as Lugosi (I gave him Lugosi's chin, but teh rest of the face is Fiennes): http://www.geocities.com:80/So Ho/Museum/9953/fiennesasbela.j pg
