You seem guilty of over-analysing this particular movie. Kusama's far too close to the project to see the forest for the trees but you should know better mate. Will audiences really 'get' all the themes and layers of depth that you mention? Is it really an 'important' film about the human condition or just a fun, schlocky 90 minutes?

Best analogy I can think of is the Spiderman movies. I despise Kirsten Dunst's performance in every movie she's in (with the exception of Interview With The Vampire). Every moment she's onscreen in the Spidey flicks I just wanna gouge my own eyes out to make it stop.

No I don't think Juno was a good script. It might have been "well written", but it wasn't a good script. But then again I don't think Transformers 2 was a good script, or Gamer, or Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull or Hostel, and we are not accusing any of those guys of sucking somebody's dick to make it (well, maybe Eli has).

The movie made money, lots of it. Sure, the marketing campaign helped tremendously, but the studios and the marketing people saw that the movie had commercial appeal. The Twilight books suck, but they make money, and that is all studios and publishers care about.

QT was the “video store clerk” who hit it big, Rodriguez was the filmmaker who gave blood to make his movie, and Oliver Stone has been using the ex-Vietnam Vet angle for over 2 decades. No one seems to be hating on those guys as much as they are hating on Cody. I wonder why?
