wow, I'm first..twice even. I just want to say that Casper Van Dien should be chastised for giving away the identity of the villain...some wise ass in the audience should have at least yelled a great big obnoxious "THANKS!.."

Cool, I was hoping Landis would get back to the anthology thing he did in Twilight Zone: the Movie (which, curiously enough, was just re-released on video)...I'm wondering what delightfully twisted segment Guillermo Del Toro will dream up.

I would like to have seen someone throw a copy of `Starship Troopers' at his head.

VERY nice line-up for Very Scary. Joe and Guillermo have impeccable cred, and I think Hill's done some Tales From the Crypt episodes if you want to see how he handles this kind of material. Let's hope Landis manages to not get anyone killed on this shoot, though.

Sad to say Don Bluth looked BRUTALLY old and not able to get around very easily. The schedule of "Titan A.E." must be getting to him.

ComicCon

Casper Van Dien made a fool of himself how much he was flirting with all the teenaged girls, but other than that ComicCon was unreal, it's incredible how accessible all the industry people are, and very accommodating. If you have interest in Sci-Fi and animation, you have to find a way out there somehow. Four days a year, and it keeps getting better and more crowded every convention, that's not mentioning all the free swag you get (you need a push cart to carry all of it). I got to hear Mark Mothersbaugh go through all his career and give us an impromptu performance of The Girl U Want, see a premiere of next seasons Futurama opener, hear Stan Lee, Frank Miller, and get the whole scoop on everything that's up with Manga.

Why did I read that spoiler? Harry warned us. Sometimes I can't help myself. I hate you, Casper van Dien. It's my fault, but you shouldn't have said anything in the first place.

Never mind. I went back and read the whole spoiler section. Before I just read part of a couple of sentences. It's not as bad as I thought. You should still avoid it, however.
The Specials

This sounds like a lot of fun. It also sounds like someone has been watching "The Tick", one of my favorite shows. I remember when The Tick came on right before X-Men on Saturday mornings, I couldn't keep a straight-face through all of the X-Men and -Women's ridiculous posturing. "I AM STORM!!!!" Oh please...

Wow. I was gonna hype how dope I thought this script was...but then I couldn't remember some of the details, so I went to look for it and I guess I threw it out. So does that leave room for half-hyping it? As a side note, the producers are now at Harvey Entertainment. That might lead to something interesting.

Van Dien spoiled the ending by saying something akin to "Hmm, it's a movie about a headless horseman. Who do you think did it? In a movie about a headless horseman..." This is classic American literature written around 1870. It's available from Project Gutenberg. Most people already have a really good idea how the story ends, and the rest are undereducated. By the way, at the end of Hamlet? Hamlet dies. Sorry to spoil that one, too.

about Van Dien making a fool of himself flirting with all the teenage girls. Not fond of the man myself, but was he making a fool of himself because he was flirting (huh! truly a cardinal sin!) or flirting with girls (eewww! flirting with girls! icky, icky, icky, icky, yucky girls! eeeeewwww!)? I mean, was he slobbering on their tennis shoes, looking up their dresses, or vigorously masterbating in front of them while rocking back and forth and naked chanting the Schiller's chorus from Beethoven's 9th Symphony??? WHAT WAS IT??? I HAVE TO KNOW!!!!
Van Dien's flirting-not really

When girls would come up to the microphone to ask him questions, his responses were teasing-flirting in keeping with their approach. Some grungy/vampy chick who thought she was the latest word in sexy-comics-babe was trying to hypnotise him with her cleavage, wanting him to come visit her and her sister's booth that they were working at. So he flirted back a bit, in a gently mocking sort of way. (He kept referring to them as The Doom Sisters, which he said in a low, scary movie voice.) Another time was when a small-teen came up, and apparently she'd asked him something earlier before the panel. So he said he'd talked to her before, she answered "Yeah, I know (duh)" and was a bit giggly. He was friendly to her in that older-boy-joshing sort of way. In essence, it wasn't that flirty. I suspect that the person who wrote that was one of those comic-geek-boys who is utterly disgusted at the idea that some cute male star was being friendly with the girls. Same sort of guy who made the hallways of the dealer's room impassable rivers of drool because he has to get his signed picture of the Vampirella model.

I was trying to make my way through the convention floor and all of a sudden I was stopped dead by a throng of people. I asked the security guard what was up, and he said that Casper Van Dien was signing autographs. I got closer to check it out, it ends up that he spent more time batting his eyelashes at the pubescent-set than signing autographs, a lot of Sci-Fi Geeks and Geekettes that were waiting for his signature were pissed. BTW, no Comic Book Guy am I, I'm believe myself rather handsome, 'eh. =)

I for one am looking forward to her acceptance speech(es). "Oh my god I'm so scared! I just want to thank Mike, and Josh, and Ed...because no matter what anyone says it was their movie...they came up with everything....and it's because of them that I'm where I am now....Oh god I could die up here!"

Remember that great line in BWP where Heather said, "Anyone have some pot?"(paraphrased) Oh, I loved that.I know she didn't write it, but she delivered the line with all the finesse of a veteran actress. Heather can be frightened and sad, too. Remember in the movie, "There's Something About Mary" when Ben Stiller finds out Mary wants to stay with Brett Favre and he starts crying - it's exactly that kind of raw emotion that Heather is capable of. Heather Donahue = Katherine Hepburn? It could be...
