Here is the deal gents: Robogeshia is a crappy movie - but it is what's called a "guilty pleasure." Liking something for the pure audacity of it. Trannyformers is also a crappy movie - no matter how you guys try to spin it - but you can like it as a "guilty pleasure." "Hey, it was just popcorn fun" is an excuse to like it, not a rave review. And that is fine, everyone has there own taste. But don’t pretend the film deserves some kind of accolades.

I see no conflict of interest in liking a whacked out Japanese movie that cost about one-day's worth of Transformers’ crafts services, vs. liking what looks like a $200 million dollar B-movie with a plot that is even simplistic than something from a Sid & Marty Kroft show.

The one thing I laugh at is people insisting it is good. Even it's defenders say people have to high of standards and that it is "not Shakespeare" and "Just a popcorn movie." Those are not reasons why the film is good - they are defenses why you like it. Just admit it is a shitty film but a guilty pleasure and move on.

If I was forced to watch either this or Transformers 2, I'd briefly contemplate watching Transformers 2 then throw myself under a fucking bus for thinking such a thing.

There is over a hundred years of film history, I doubt I am going to agree with people 100% of the time. At the same time, one should be able to break down why he did or didn't like a movie, instead of just sitting around and saying it "sucks" or it is "cool."

Transformers is a pg-13 film where the director and every other creator with a voice has stated "they did this or that for the kids". Transformers is touted as a family/kids film. Truthfully I haven't seen as many new movies this year because they have all looked pretty bad, and most of ones I have seen I have been disappointed in,. So I have mostly gone to the revival houses to see Films Noirs, French Crime Movies, Giallo movies, and classics and foreign films.

I don't know if it'll be good, but at least it won't be boring.

Personally I prefer the older crime movies, mostly from the 60s and 70s: Série noire,Le Cercle Rouge, Le Samurai, Purple Noon, Le Doulas and Monsieur Klein.

Even earlier crime films (30s- 50s) would have to be Elevator to the Gallows, Rififi, Touchez pas au grisbi, Le Corbeau and of course a lot of the French New Wave hits (especially Don't Shoot the Piano Player and A Band A Part).

And that's Harry Potter 6. Pretty damn sad summer for movies.
