He insults my eyes and ears in ever single film he's in....people act like he was suddenly 'bad' in The Happening. Open your eyes, people! He's always that bad. His brother Donnie acts rings around him yet hardly ever gets the kudos he deserves. And this film sounds poo. Whats the odds it revolves around people who say they're 'Irish American' while the characters were born in America, never visited Ireland in their lives and only had a single Irish relative three generations back? Fuck, I hate this film already.

and films it to sell as 'art'. somebody please point out the difference between this and 'bumfights' or illegal dogfighting for that matter. we all know Bale got lairy at McConaughey on that dragon movie (and lost) so Wahlberg's just been pulled in to push him, right?

I, for one, believe that Bale could stand to lose a few teeth.

Just how many does he have in that phlegm-pond of a mouth anyway? fifty?

Ward/Gatti great great great stuff, I told my roomate at the time to watch the fight, he was hesitant only watched the big named heavyweights and Oscar. I told him this has the making of a very good fight, wow did it greatly surpass my expectations.. But yeah I was just saying that Micky Ward vs Emanual August a year prior to Gatti/Ward I was also a damn good fight, i believe a few folks gave that Fight of the Year that year.

Personally, I don't blame Christian Bale for lashing out at douchebag McG's attention-deficit-disordered cinematographer. The film was sucking, despite pre-shooting assurances, and Bale was likely starting to realize just how BAD it was sucking.

Luckily, David O. Russell is NOT McDouchebag. Not even close. He's an actor-inspiring director with heart, class, and creativity, which I'm certain Bale is dying to get back to after Terminator.

"Three Kings" is one of my favorite films of all time, which might sound strange to hear, but it's true. The story is wacky and comical at first, but as things push on, I'm always tremendously moved by what the "Kings" realize is at stake and how they each push aside greed to help save the Iraqi dissidents.

And the last scene of the Iraqi father and his little girl looking back at Clooney... whew. One of the great moments in film. Gets me every time.

I'm definitely looking forward to "The Fighter."

CNN.com are reporting that Bale is taking preparation for his new role in THE FIGHTER very seriously.

In a mouth-watering matchup he is scheduled to fight current Heavyweight Champion Vladimir Klitschko on August 4th at Madison Square Gardens, to unify all the Heavyweight belts.

At the press conference promotor Don King stated "Christian Bale's professionalism is legendary, and this fight will be legendary. Nothing is going to distract Christian from his goal."

In response Bale chided King with the words "I didn't give you permission to call me Christian you fucking prick."

Vladimir Klitschko was thought to be too nervous to attend the conference and see Bale in person. A spokesperson from his camp went on record as saying 'he is shitting it'.

Seriously if any of the camera crew on this film is here...

MTV.com have published an interview with Mark Walberg where he discusses THE FIGHTER. Excerpt below:

Interviewer: "So how did you prepare for this film?"

Mark Wahlberg: "Really my preparation, and actually my inspiration was watching ROCKY V"

Interviewer: "Rocky Five? How so?"

Mark Wahlberg: "It's probably my favourite film. Made a big impression on me at least. The guy was called Tommy Gunn. I was called Marky Mark. See the similarity? Plus everyone told me the dude looked like me. Yeah, amazing."

Interviewer: "But isn't ROCKY V considered the worst Rocky?"

Mark Wahlberg: "What? (confused) I never heard that before. I think it speaks to many people. The kid getting bullied - that's an important issue man. And the black guy, the promoter - two words for you, Don King. Yeah, no one spotted it but that was a real clever move. Art imitating life man. That movie was deep."

Ward-Gatti Trilogy = Play it to the Bone
by doodler
Jun 30th, 2009
09:43:30 PM
I don't remember if the movie came first, but Ward-Gatti I took the world by surprise, and the crowd really wasn't expecting such drama, heart, and fight from two journeymen in a non-title fight.

It's very reminiscent of the fight at the end of Play It To the Bone, except it wasn't part of a shitty movie, and had 2 great sequels.

And, without that late-career drama, i doubt this movie gets made. Though, when it was first announced, wasn't Matt Damon playing the brother/trainer? It makes more sense, since he resembles Wahlberg more. I guess Wahlberg was always going to be the fighter, and i'm not surprised the studio's not wanting to get an exponentially better actor to outshine him (Bale's fine, but he's not THAT good).

no defence and only become famous because he found and opponent who was equally fond of taking head shots (Arturo Gatti). And in the end even Gatti beat him. No disrespect (too late for that anyway I guess) but come on, there are plenty of other fighters with more compelling stories out there. Do we make a big deal of Ward cause he was one of the only white americans in the last decade to get a sniff of a belt??? Im sorry, I aint buying it and its BS that THIS is the real boxing story that gets made into a movie. (Sorry Bale and DGdickblood)
